I seriously dislike the Dead Space franchise.

Strings, strings, strings... MORE strings... HOW ABOUT EVEN MORE STRINGS!

The music got on my nerves badly in 2. It was like they wanted every moment to be suspenseful, but instead the music made the game annoying a lot of the time (in the part I played).

Good thing he's got that fur collar on his space suit.

This trailer is balls.

Posted by Nasos100

It could be worse. It could be a video of fake Phil Collins pissing on the molested corpse of Genesis.

And gorillas

Amen brother, this will be sweet as hell

Hear hear! Visceral Games has delivered 2 of my personal favorites of all time. I trust them.

1) This is what happens when people try for the Gears of War/Mad World thing and fail

2) I am totally incapable of distinguishing this game from Lost Planet 3.

3) "Dance Space 3" wait what

I love how he runs towards the camera in the end, even though he was on the edge of a cliff.

Posted by stryker1121

OK, here's what I'm telling myself - The demo vids and the trailers and much of the press coming out of EA/Visceral have been focusing on the co-op/action stuff cuz that's what sells. (Did not an EA exec say they want to move 5M copies of the game?) But inside all the action is still the core atmosphere and horror that fans of the series have come to enjoy. Maybe not "survival horror" but at least the "action horror" of something like Resi4, which can still grab you by your tingly and bulbous parts without knocking you over the head with macho shooty setpiece bullshit that loads of other games already employ.

That's what I'm telling myself.

Shut up all you Ryan wannabes saying "hot garbage" all the time. And don't even pretend like you didn't get it from Ryan! I've seen too many people on these forums start saying it for it not to be the case.

Also live action Isaac looks like Rick Grimes.

You mean Rick Grimes from that hot garbage TV Show?

'Add voice to your arsenal with Kinect' - What does that even mean?!?

Fus Ro Dah! Didn't you always want to shout at your survival horror game?

Anyway, it's interesting to read through these comments. This game seems to be making a lot of Dead Space fans feel the way I felt when Max Payne 3 was coming out.

That cover makes me angry. Soooo angry.

If you want Phil Collins, get Phil Collins. Dude likes money, and seems to be game for anything. He had a recurring supporting role in Vice City Stories, trading lines with a transsexual director and everything. I bet most people didn't make it this far, but his "quest line" culminated in this awesomely stilted machinima peformance of "In the Air":

This is awesome! Thanks for sharing.

Posted by FuzzYLemoN

Nothing wrong with this cover. The Phil Collins version would just feel even more out of place.

Posted by Video_Game_King

Somebody rewrite "Can You Feel The Love Tonight" so it's about Dead Space. I know it's not a Phil Collins song, but just do it.

Posted by megatronicles

Holy shit this is the worst trailer I've ever seen.

Posted by Winternet

Always be Phil Collining!

Posted by Albedo12

@Video_Game_King: Easy:

"Can you feel the call tonight

The peace the marker brings

All worlds for once in perfect Unity

As undead creeping things"

It's really weird that they botched using a licensed song this bad. I thought the Dead Space 2 Launch trailer that used the Smashing Pumpkins worked really well.

Posted by Bwgmon

You know, if it weren't for Isaac's helmet design I would've thought this was the trailer for a Lost Planet game.

Or the reboot of the SkiFree franchise we've all been waiting for.

That show is always be never not hot garbage. Hot garbage is a thing.

I love you.

Also, seconding the Lost Planet similarity. That's not the first time I noticed that with the preview shots I've seen from DS3.

Posted by Paindamnation

Also, that's a pre-rendered cut scene with an actor. That is NOT in game footage, unless you're playing LA Noire.

Someone please edit this in?

Posted by avidwriter

Seriously.... a cover? WTF man. At least they didn't add "better with kinect" at the end.

Edited by MonkfishEsq

I feel sorry for people so gullible as to lap up every AAA title coming out these days. Dead Space is a dead franchise thansk to DS3.

Posted by smokyexe

How does having that suit with that not even a real weapon in a deserted snow area make sense?

Posted by kalmis

This and the microtransaction bs. Doesn't sound promising at all.

Posted by Vonocourt

That dude's face was pretty nice looking.

But the rest of the trailer was kind of bleh.

Posted by Max_Cherry

My favorite Alex video caption; and therefore, my favorite video caption ever.

Posted by Jayzilla

We get it EA: You want us to hate you. You don't have to try so hard any more. I stopped buying your games a while ago.

Posted by PolygonSlayer

Really bummed. This just looks like nothing I want from a Dead Space game, oh well, there are plenty of other titles to play.

Posted by Castiel

It would have been better if they had just licensed the original song.

Posted by melodiousj

That cover actually had potential at first, but really botched it on the chorus. That song is all about building up to the drums kicking in, and messing up that part of the track while simultaneously using it as the climax of your trailer really kills the mood.

Says nothing of the trailer's actual content, mind you, which looks pretty alright to me.

Posted by The_Nubster

What did I just. . .

What an awful thing. What a goddamn awful thing.

Posted by LegendaryChopChop

This is actually pretty fucking awesome.

Posted by Protome

When you can say that something is worse than Phil Colins, you know it's bad.

Posted by Peteybird

Totally dug it.

Posted by Rekt_Hed

After playing the demo for DS3 any cautious excitement I had for this game got sucked right out of me.....AND GOD DAMMIT I LOVED THE OTHER GAMES! Maybe its me. Maybe I don't need another one of those games right now.

Fuck knows but this trailer didn't make any difference.

Posted by QKT

this is where i learn dead space 3 has kinect functionality like mass effect did. fuck this, i quit games.

Posted by The_Wingman

Hahaha! The gameplay doesn't look terrible but oh the music.

Posted by xxDrAiNxx

I've never seen so much hate for a game since Mass Effect 3....The gaming community has been so childish lately. Its like you guys hate change and games itself. The gameplay feels fantastic and scary. Co-op is damn good with lots of replay value. People judging a game by its E3 demo is pretty much tarted in the head. Are people Gamers anymore or just nitpickers?

Day 1 purchase for me.

Yep, this. To see such a promising IP butchered and given the AAA treatment is just deflating.

They're expecting to move five million copies of this thing. That's how misguided and untrue to itself this series has gotten.

Better with Kinect.

I know you got the money EA for real Phil Collins.

Posted by AlexanderSheen

Really disappointed with that song, it just feels off.

Has the Dead Space guy always been Bradley Cooper?

I'm getting more of a Andrew Lincoln/Frank Grimes vibe.

And ugh. Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Everything about Dead Space.

I didn't know 'gamers' had to play everything under the fucking sun and not have an opinion different from your own. I've been playing games since I was six. I'm twenty-four now. And guess what: I'm fucking choosy, because I'm a grad. student who needs to buy games for himself. So what little money I have goes to shit I actually enjoy. I develop A TASTE, just like everyone does--just like every gamer does. And I don't enjoy Dead Space. So I'm not going to buy it.

And I do hate change when it's for the worse. Dead Space was fine--not great, just fine. The Xenomorphs were an interesting new-ish thing, even if anyone could see the myriad of sci-fi influences from a mile away. They at least were a new-ish thing in video games. Limb-based cutty shitty was still novel. Dead Space 2 had fantastic lighting, and the gameplay was fine. There was no tension to it whatsoever. It was boring. It was slogging. Nothing scared me. Every Xenomorph appearance was accompanied by a loud, screeching piano note. Eventually, I just stopped fucking caring.

Dead Space 3 demo played fine. There, again, was no tension. Nothing was scary. You can't have such a harsh switch in tone and still try to go for jump scares. You can't go for jump scares every half-minute. Jump scares are rendered ineffective at that point. Granted it was the demo, but everything from the marketing, the demo, the precedent of Dead Space 2 is screaming "Dead Space 3 will be an action-heavy game". And that's fine. But I'm left there going "Okay." And that's it. The game, again, doesn't play badly. But cutting shit at specific points isn't novel anymore. It's not scary. I don't give a fuck about Isaac. So I'm not invested in anything about the game. So I just don't give a fuck. I acknowledge that it's produced and plays well enough, but I do not give a shit about it at all.

I don't hate it, and I don't think a lot of the internet actively hates this game. Simply the hyperbolic rhetoric that we know as internet speak makes it look like this is a fucking abomination. It's just an inoffensively forgettable series that's changed, a lot feel, for the worse. And it'll just be forgotten, no matter how well it plays. That's about that. It's the video game equivalent of Subway or something--kinda eh, but serviceable. It won't kill you, but if you're looking for something to give a shit about, you can do better.

Posted by Cold_Wolven

Isaac Clarke the CG model doesn't look anything like the in game model. This trailer isn't as good as Dead Space 2's trailer.

Posted by mortigitempo

When your cover of a bland 80s rock song manages to sound tamer than the original, you done fucked up.
