Based on historical events just like Dynasty Warriors.

Glad this is coming out to the states. Also, it being a digital only release and no dub should hopefully cut the cost of it some. Saves me the hassle of having to import it.

Seems like the best effort anybody has given a One Piece game in awhile, which has always struck me as strange, considering it's the highest selling manga of all time.

I like Koei's games, I fully accept that they are mostly awful. But if idiots like myself will buy bad things then bad things will keep being made. Not gonna buy this though, don't care about One Piece and I don't like the art style.

Odd, I wonder hwo the gameplay will work.... I sort of like it but I also feel the graphic style doesnt fit very well... I wish it looked more like the naruto Ultimate ninja games, I dont like Naruto, but I think they have perfected the anime look, sometimes it's hard to tell the difference..

What does the headline have to do with the trailer?

As far as I'm concerned, the graphics in the ultimate ninja games are what every anime inspired game should aspire to from now on.

Like the One Piece manga, never been interested in any of the game adaptations.

After seeing this I continue to be not interested in any of the game adaptations.

Edit: Actually, I feel like I have to give it more credit than that, it looks fine technically, but I'm still not interested.

I know Tecmo Koei are making this but from this trailer I don't see a hint of Dynasty Warriors at all? Don't judge the book by its publisher perhaps?

Well I like One Piece and Dynasty Warriors, this may be promising.

Actually, I watched some of the videos of game footage on youtube a few weeks ago and it just struck me as bland. Not bad, but just sorta bland in the way the game was structured. It kind of sacrificed the narrative for the sake of the gameplay, and once again this is not a bad thing, but it's definitely not a good thing. From what I saw, only hardcore fans of the series would get any real satisfaction from this game.

Totally getting it. I kinda wish it was dubbed with the Funimation crew, but the fact that we're getting this at all is great.

So with Nobunaga moving on to Pokemon I guess someone had to fill the reins.

I haven't cared about Dynasty Warriors since like, the launch days of the PS2, but my friend bought an import copy of this game at PAX East and we played it in the Freeplay Room... IT WAS AWESOME. Sure the combat is simple and probably gets a little repetitive, but at least you get to play as every member of the crew and they all have wildly different powers.

They translate the art style and animations of the characters incredibly well into this game, and the quick time events are actually fun. If you like One Piece, definitely check this game out. And if you don't like One Piece because it's popular or "the characters look like butt," seriously, just watch a few episodes. You'll understand.

This will be my intro into the dynasty warriors type of games. I've always steered clear, but I feel the need to support something like this.

PS3 only? Bummer. I'd be up for a One Piece game that's actually good.

Still pretty excited to play as Luffy and the gang, I hope this turns out well.

If it looked more like Naruto, then it wouldn't be One Piece. That's the main complaint that I hear from people about the series (and I thought it looked pretty weird at first too) but it's something that is extremely easy to get over once you get into the story. In fact, I've grown to admire that it doesn't necessarily adhere to all anime stereotypes. The game looks pretty decent, though, I've played other adaptations in the past and I wasn't disappointed, but it was easy to get bored. I think with this type of setup it'll work much better.

Anime is for jerks.

Doesn't fit? In what sense? I've seen 80 odd episodes of the anime and this game looks very One Piece-esque. Seems faithful to the source material.

The gameplay will definitely work just like a Dynasty Warriors game. In case you don't know what that means, here you go.

It's a shame neither One Piece nor Bleach have yet to receive their "Budokai" or "Ninja Storm" game treatments, ala games that sell on fan service but are actually decent. Man a game that was built like a Bayonetta but all One Piece-ish would be amazing. How the hell do anime companies not realize this and just license out their properties to studios with talent.

One PIece seems like a really interesting world, I'd totally watch it if it was less dumb.

Read the manga. It's way better than the anime. One Piece sounds like another dumb shonen but it's got one of the most concretely solid storylines with the least amount of plot holes of nearly any story I've read, and there's a reason it is literally the best selling book, period, in all of Japanese history. One out of every eight Japanese people reads One Piece, and it's really a shame 4kids basically ruined its chances in the west, because nothing really compares to it.

Personally, I want to see what the quick look of this will be like. Hopefully at least Vinny or Jeff will be involved, because the nonstop incredulity at the craziness going on(which all still makes sense in context) should be amazing.

At least I hope there's a scene involving Kaku at some point. "That man just turned into a giant giraffe carpenter ninja secret agent wielding four swords. What"

@HumanoidTyphoon: Just talking about the visual rendering aspect of the game, the characters are volumetric, and seem normal mapped, and that is fine in most games, makes them more realistic, but in an anime .. it seems like they are made of some form of play dough.. It's not bad, just.. doesn't render as anime-like as the naruto or bleach games do.

Love One Piece, indifferent on Dynasty Warriors. I'd probably take a pass on this even if it wasn't PS3 only.
