@mikejflick: Enough to win a poll Ed Boon ran on Twitter. An "unofficial" poll, but suffice it to say, Zatanna has her fans.

It looks like she has a stance change with the hat and wand out. She has a different move set. She is probably going to be real tricky.

Good to see Zatanna, but I'm still holding out for Booster Gold.

I mean it's not like I'll ever see the Question in a game.

@mrfluke: I think we're looking at 2 more. If you look at how the grid is filling out on the character select screen- two more 'completes' it.

Love that they have Zatanna's proper costume in this game and not that ridiculous goth crap they put her in the New 52. Hopefully we'll get a GOTY edition or something with all the DLC.

Oh, I didn't even know she was in Young Justice. I guess that makes sense, because she sounds young... but you're right, she doesn't LOOK young, so the voice doesn't seem to fit that well.

But I'm just splitting hairs I guess. Young Justice fans will be happy I suppose.

@koolaid: I mean, she is already Hawkgirl and Killer Frost. We're definitely getting a fair dose of Jennifer Hale in this game.

Her super move was kind of disappointing.

Anyone know any good Zatanna stories I should look into? I don't know too much about her.

@gelf513: Yeah, totes. Its just that most of the characters are voiced by their Justice League Unlimited voice actors and Jennifer Hale played Zatanna in that. That's where I was coming from.

I'm a young justice fan and everything, but that voice doesn't really fit this Zatanna to me, it threw me off as soon as I heard it. I don't NEED it to be Jennifer Hale, but something along those lines seems like it would have been better.

@sergotron: Paul Dini's Zatanna run from 2010 was pretty good. If you like some Grant Morrison crazy, the way she was used in Seven Soldiers was quite good as well. Oh, and the current Justice League Dark book has her in it and is great, especially since Jeff Lemire started writing it.

I don't really play fighting games but everything I've seen about this game looks pretty fun and the characters all seem pretty cool. Dunno who Zatanna is but she seems cool.

@mrangryface: ah your right that is true, and its most likely B team folks working on this stuff also, so its not out of the possibility then.

Now all I need is an appearance by Booster Gold and all will be right.

@koolaid: Yeah, that really sucks. When a character is supposed to be voiced by Jenny and then isn't, it's incredibly noticeable and disappointing. On the other side, when she voices a character that she traditionally hasn't voiced in the past, (like Phoenix in MvC3 for instance), it's noticeable and AWESOME.

Awesome!, Zatanna didn't even cross my mind for some reason when I was talking to a friend about who else might show up.
Some of the best ones we came up with were Booster Gold, The Question,,Blue Beetle, Huntress, Black Canary, Animal Man or Beast Boy and Starfire. We ruled out most Batman Villians since a lot show up in the stage transitions and more obscure characters (Crazy Quilt or Captain boomerang would be something!).

All I gotta say is I am pumped to see this game getting more characters.

I see a lot of Kung Lau in her and that fireball looks like reptile's acid ball.

Shouldn't she be saying more backward words? I'm not a Zatanna expert, but I thought that was kind of her thing.

I don't know who this character is nor do I play this game but if I did i'd use her.

It's not really that odd. All of the "heavy hitters" are already in the game, ie Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, etc. Who's left at this point that

A) Fans want to see

B) Isn't just another version/type of an existing character, ie another Green Lantern, Kryptonian, etc

C) Isn't a Batman ally/villain. I mention this because Boon/Neatherealm didn't want to fill the game with Batman characters because they easily could of as alot of them would make good fighting game characters. Basically trying to avoid the Capcom Vs X scenario where the Capcom side ends up being mostly Street Fighter characters.

D) Offers a different gameplay style, moveset, etc.

Zatanna fits that criteria, and as mentioned before she won the Twitter poll that Boon did.

I'm extremely magic right now.

I'm not a fan of her design, especially in the face. Her moves are pretty underwhelming, and her voice is annoying. I like that her trait adds the top hat and wand, though.

Blue Beetle? Black Canary?

Oh come on, I wanted to play as Silkie, the Bumgorf with a heart of gold.

dunno about black canary, but blue beetle was one of the least popular characters on that poll ed boon ran.

I think if anything, Red Hood will probably end up being a special Nightwing skin, like the way they handled Jon Stewart Green Lantern.

Black Canary did OK, coming in somewhere in the middle of the pack. But yeah, Blue Beetle was one of the worst performers in that poll.

This was a pleasant surprise, Zatanna is one of my favorites.

Problem is, NetherRealm absolutely cannot design an attractive/normal looking female character at all.

On the good side, it looks like she has some great moves. I don't really like her voice that much, either.

In addition to the other suggestions, look for Paul Dini's - Zatanna:Everyday Magic published by Vertigo....great one and done story...you got some stellar suggestions from @Kennyshat though.
