As long as the trains are used as much as the boat was used in PH it will be fine.

PH was awesome.

I haven't finished Phantom Hourglass either (that infamous dungeon you return to over and over got incredibly dull and difficult very quickly), so I don't know if this was something resolved at the end of that game, but...

Phantom Hourglass and, presumably, this game, take place in the Wind Waker timeline, where all of Hyrule is flooded. Why, then, do there appear to be vast amounts of open land in this game? I know that as a Zelda game, nothing necessarily needs to be connected, but Phantom Hourglass was a direct continuation of the Wind Waker plotline (in a somewhat contrived way), and this princess Zelda looks the same as Tetra from the other two games.

I think he actually DOES have a conductor's hat on in this video.  Little after the 1:30 mark.

This makes sense. The boat in P H was steam powered. A steam powered train would be a natural evolution of that technology. Logically, then, Link will get a rifle or musket as an item in the next game or two. A few more games and Link will be able to drive cars and shoot with pistols and automatic weapons.

Of course, by this time, Hyrule City would certainly have a seedy underbelly, complete with drugs and prostitutes. And, of course, the cost of items would skyrocket due to inflation, so Link would probably have to sell drugs (or at least shuffle them from location to location in hopes of turning a profit) and steal cars in order to have enough rupees for guns and a safe-house for his b**** Tetra. I think this could work on the DS.

As much as I love Zelda games, they really are just the same formula made over and over at this point. Sure there's some surface changes and tweaks but I just can't get excited for this. Maybe it's a bad trailer, maybe it's because i felt like I was going through the motions in Phantom Hourglass. But Nintendo really needs to step their Zelda game up now to hold my interest, and this doesn't look like the title to do it.

I was totally on board. Then they showed Zelda. I don't know why, but I fucking don't want Zelda in my Zelda game. All the implications just make me so damned angry at Nintendo. Ganon? Triforce? You bet!

Haven't finished Phantom Hourglass, but I may just have to go finish it before I get this one. I love the train idea and want to know what's behind the link being a messenger boy or something. And I'm totally digging the western themed zelda music ^.^

Looks cool, only thing I saw that I don't like is when the two screens act as one, they act as though they are a single solid screen, instead of recognizing the space between them.

It looks great. The more handheld Zelda the better as far as I'm concerned.

A new cel shaded game is due for Wii also.

They captured the Wind-Waker feel pretty well.  But now all I want is another Wind-Waker style game on the bigger screen.

Ummmmm...................? I know that I am going to buy it when it arrives but it just looks....interesting. There is nothing new from PH besides...trains. Trains? I am sure they will make it good because there hasn't been a bad Zelda game, like, ever (get your CD-i crap out of here).

I loved, loved, loved Phantom Hourglass. I hope they do the same thing with a massive dungeon that you revisit with multiple ways to get through earlier levels once you get new items, that was really cool.

I kind of miss the overworld though. What happend to Zelda games with overworlds you got to really explore? In Wind Waker / Phantom Hourglass it's all sea, which was okay but just not the same. Twilight Princess' was more like a series of connected paths than a true open space. And now we get train tracks... Doesn't get much more linear than that. You have to go all the way back to the gameboy Zelda games for a good nonlinear overworld area. And Ocarina of course, Hyrule Field FTW. I'm probably just nostalgic for Zelda 1 where you could do crazy stuff like grab a bunch of heart containers in the overworld to get the White and Master (err... Magical) Swords really early in the game, sequence break the dungeons, spend entire days of your precious childhood burning every tree with the blue candle, etc.

So... I can't remember who said it, but I think it bears repeating. That Zelda, she looks like Tetra. But if she is Tetra and this is a continuation of the Wind Waker/Phantom Hourglass story, where's the sea? There was a brief shot of some water but that's about it.

I'm still confused as to why there are TRAINS in a Zelda game, as far as I know that technology doesn't exist. Unless their starting to move the franchise into more futuristic settings...

*Dreams of next Wii Zelda having robots and energy swords*
