It looks like it has some really innovative ideas. The likelihood it will actually deliver on those ideas remains low, I think.

Sounds a lot better than I originally thought.

Jump scares are cheap ways of scaring people.

Yeah I hate jump scares, nothing more lazy then one after another

I kinda figured this game would be the 'Red Steel' equivalent for the WiiU.

But after watching this video I think it's a lot more interesting than that. Will be interesting to see what happens next.

I clicked on this news item just to confirm my suspicion that Alex wrote that subheading.

I studied cerebronomy and minored in zombie-American studies.

Whats wrong with your faaaaaaaaaaaaaace

I'm still interested in this game, and it remains one of the selling points for me to pick up a Wii U at some point. However, this is the same publisher that did Red Steel, a game that was all promise and shallow delivery. I'm hoping this is more of a surprise game of awesome like Dead Island than the letdown of Red Steel.

I'll wait to see what people say upon release before chunking money down on a Wii U.

Edited by Little_Socrates

@jakob187: I've played a demo of ZombiU. It's significantly better than Red Steel. Though the melee weapons do not require you to thrust the tablet about like a folding chair, that's just advertising.

Good to know they're at least seriously considering their horror philosophy. While they're including some jump scares in this trailer, I encountered none in my demo, nor did I see any while others were playing. I'm not sure this game is really scary; rather, it's extremely tense. They're nailing the atmosphere, keeping a constant sense of suspense; however, there really wasn't any terror (OH GOD THERE IT IS IT'S GONNA GET ME) or horror (OH GOD IT GOOOOT MEEEEEE) in the demo I saw and played.

Wow that still is really gross.

Posted by banishedsoul1

looks cool would like to see more gameplay tho

I really don't like those '' hey look we motion control this shit and it actually reproduces 100% of my movement''.

Posted by SortedeVaras

Try all you want Nintendo your not going to trick me into buying anything involving the Wii again.

I'm way too happy go lucky for this game.

Edited by TzarStefan

I like it. What i don't like is that i have to buy this console to play it.

Posted by golguin

I know a lot of people hate on zombies in games, but this looks pretty cool.

Posted by Amaru25

Looks pretty good I just hope i dont have to wave my bigass WiiU controller to use a pickaxe cus that seems just dreadful.

Posted by the_r0n1n_named_47

the more i see the more i want to see.... im super interested... not 100% on the WiiU yet though

Posted by EmuLeader

I really don't care about football games, but that was one of the best QL's in a long time. It had a great climax at the end.

Posted by geekbot

Want this SO BAD. Can't wait to get my WiiU. :D

Posted by MeatSim

Seems like a more promising launch title then Red Steal was.

Posted by malic3

looks really good, if this is a launch title itll sell reaally well, ill wait for the wii.u. though..., not sold on it yet

Good design for the Zombies - look half-way ugly enough to impress.

Posted by das9000

Seems like they are trying to spin this as a unique, "never before in the history of gaming" type of deal but it doesn't really seem that original. It looks like a generic zombie game from another platform with a few mechanics tweaked for the tablet controller. Fallout lockpicking, keyboard numpad. The most innovative thing is having to fight your zombie self to get your stuff back. I guess playing an FPS on a tablet is something new ... but is that really a change for the better? I don't think so. I'm sure the people who bought a wii u will hail this as a revolution just because they have something to play.

Posted by Rukus

Jeeze, that FOV is terrible. Looks like you're playing through a spyglass.

To be fair, Red Steel was done in largely because the game's ambitions were hampered by the technical realities of the Wii remote. Red Steel 2 did a lot to redeem the concept once the Wii Motion Plus was an option.

Posted by BlatantNinja23

this looks pretty good actually... probably will just rent it but least there is more to look forward to on this thing.

Posted by Gamer_152

I think this showed off the game much better than it was shown at E3, I'm still not sure I'm entirely "getting it" though.

You know, at one point I did want to play this game. But then HOLYFUCKBALLS that still image was wildly unsettling.

Why anyone would include any mention or footage of anything even halfway resembling Wiimote waggle is beyond me. No one has ever once had anything good to say about using motion controls for melee combat, and especially not anyone in the audience they're marketing this towards.

That being said, it looks really cool and really interesting. I like the perma-death, and the tension of having inventory/lockpicking/"hacking" in real-time is really interesting, and I could see that going a long way for the tension the game seems to be working towards.

Posted by hollitz

Me no rikey the thumbnail for this video.

Game looks pretty cool but I won't be playing it any time soon. Gonna give the WiiU about two years to prove itself before I even consider buying one.

Posted by Rothbart

I'm a lot more confident in the WiiU's capabilities now that I've seen some of what this game can offer.

Yeah thats my biggest beef with it. I would happily buy it, but I'm not about to purchase a new console just to play this one game. Maybe if WiiU had a bigger lineup of cool games, but so far this is the only one. And no, I dont care that they will release the zillionth Mario and Zelda games on it. I'm just not a fan of Nintendo's IP's.

Posted by Tesla

It takes something special for me to want to play a zombie game. This makes one game on the Wii U that I want. If that number gets much higher I might have to get the console.

Posted by Batmeng

No, John.

U are the Zombie.

Posted by dickTurpin

Ubisoft with the first Splinter Cell was using that same feel of tension when picking locks, you never know when a guard was going to come around while doing it

Edited by CakeBomb

Even with a normal controller, we can't escape waggle.

Curse motion controls.

Also, game looks half-assed as hell, even Left 4 Dead has more polish.

Posted by vinsanityv22

At 2:34, where they're shaking the Wii U GamePad to fight off a zombie, you should also be able to pound the zombie on the touch screen - like with the bottom of your fist - and have your character punch him in the face.

I feel like a lot of games are going to be ripping off the "pretend the GamePad is a survival kit" mechanic in the future. Much like how Wii Sports begat a large number of games who did the exact same minigames and mechanics, just worse? I can see a ton of survival horror games come out after this that do the same thing... hopefully better. I wouldn't mind seeing the teams who did Silent Hill: Shattered Memories and Fragile Dreams work on a Wii U game. Spiritual successors to either of those games is something I'd LOVE to see. And you could you imagine the types of games a developer like Frictional could do with this? Or the Zack & Wiki team at Capcom?

The Wii U could end up with some awesome stuff. Won't have dick this year though. And even WHEN the good games come, there's a great chance poser "hardcore" gamers will ignore 'em, just like with the great games on the Wii.
