Virgin games was founded in 1981 as a part of the Virgin Group. It is now known as Virgin Interactive.

 In mid-1987, the company bought about half of Mastertronic from an investment group and in 1988 bought the rest from the original founders.

The company was renamed to Virgin Interactive in 1994.
