The Fifth World Fighting Tournament kicks off with Virtua Fighter 5.
Virtua Fighter 5, developed by Sega-AM2, was released for the PlayStation 3 on February 20, 2007. What followed was an an online-enabled Xbox 360 version in October 2007.While the PlayStation 3 version of Virtua Fighter 5 isbased on the Revision B of the arcade version, the Xbox 360 version features Revision C, which includes a number of bug fixes (camera angles, glitches) and rebalancing of specific move sets. Additionally, the Xbox 360 version features online play, which the PlayStation 3 version misses.
Story
The Fifth World Fighting Tournament has begun and 17 fighters have been called to attend. Assuming it to be a straight-forward fighting tournament, the contenders are unaware of the intentions of J6--the company that funds the tournament--to use the tournament to advance their plans for world domination. The J6 scientists have spent many years developing a cutting-edge fighting machine called Dural. While its previous incarnation was defeated in the Fourth World Fighting Tournament, J6 has now kidnapped Virtua Fighter regular Sarah, and is using her combat data to create its successor, V-Dural.
