I just played "Don't Take It Personally, Babe, It Just Ain't Your Story", and I was kind of floored by the romance between Nolan and Akira. Being a gay duder, I never really see romance portrayed in a way that I can relate to, and Don't Take It Personally really struck a chord with me. I know I can't really expect there to be a lot of mainstream games with LGBT content, aside from a few Bioware games, so I'm interested in seeing what other visual novels with gay romance exist. I've played Enzai and Absolute Obedience, but I'm looking for something a little less porny and a little more adorkable.
Visual Novel
Concept »
A sub-genre of adventure games, visual novels are a form of interactive fiction that usually have very little in terms of gameplay but often focus more on extensive storytelling, character interactions, decision-making and branching narratives.
Visual novels with dude on dude romance?
The less porny thing is the issue. There are a ton of LBGT dating sims coming out of japan and korea, but they're almost all female centric and usually devolve into hentai galleries about 25% of the way through.
It's not a genre that most devs take all that seriously since the audience is so niche.
I haven't read them, but my wife really enjoyed the Junjo Romantica manga/anime series. It's not graphic or explicit; more just telling interesting believable stories that happen to involve dudes that are into other dudes. From what she said about it, it sounds right up your alley.

Just saw this in this week's Worth Reading. I threw money at them without even looking at the pitch video.
Now that I think about it, wasn't the developer on this thread earlier? I think he deleted his post, but I recall someone posting a link to the demo.
Don't like the art but i'd play that. Hopefully it will have a quality story.

The OP's name and dude dude romance has given me a brilliant idea: someone should make a visual novel based on 1st and 2nd Samuel in the Bible.
neat
Oh man the flashbacks that i'm getting. If only Fear Effect 2: Retro Helix had been available in my area as a youngster, I would have loved to dive into this game. I remember it has one of the first game to introduce a playable lesbian couple. I loved the first game and couldn't wait to get my hands on the second one. Unfortunately, it never happened.

The Northstar from DC comics came out of the closet this year.
Northstar has been out for a while, the Green Lantern is newly outed.
(Also Northstar was Marvel)
