    I bought the first game last year and only played it for a couple of hours.  I really liked it, but got sucked into other games that were out at the time.  Should I go back and play it, or should I just ditch it and get the newer more improved version?

    If $40 is cheap to you, then it sounds like you should buy it.  Personally, for the amount of new stuff in the game, I'm happy to wait a while and see if gets a platinum hits release like the first one did.
