    Overview

    Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 3 is a street racing game developed and released by Namco Bandai for arcades (using PC-based Namco System N2 hardware) on July 18, 2007.

    The third installment of the Maximum Tune series (based on the manga series Wangan Midnight), Maximum Tune 3 improves upon its predecessor by adding a new game mode ("Ghost Battle", allowing players to challenge "ghost cars" based on the stats of other players), updating the Story Mode (allowing events to happen mid-game, such as new rivals cutting in), and revamping Versus play (allowing the race leader to choose the race's direction at each junction). It also adds new vehicles and courses, adds a new soundtrack (including the ability to use tracks from either Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune, Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 2, or Wangan Midnight R) and improves the game's visuals (with new arcade hardware).

    The game later received two major updates: one in December 16, 2008 (sub-titled "Maximum Tune 3DX") and one in March 4, 2010 (sub-titled "Maximum Tune 3DX+"). Both versions add new vehicles, courses, and music, with the DX+ version adding an "event mode" for tournaments.
