Warcraft Adventures was supposed to chronicle the journey of Thrall from an enfant raised by humans to his rise as Warchief of the Horde. As the game never came to fruition, Blizzard decided to novelize the story and it eventually came out as Lord of the Clans, written by Christie Golden.
