    a noticable improvment

I loved the original but the campaign was repeatitive. The way you had to go from point A to point B and kill the boss was just too over used. In this installment the mission selection is far more linear but also far more effective. The story powers along with surprising momentum. I had trouble stopping not just because how much the gameplay has improved but also because I wanted the next little piece of the story.

I also really enjoyed how they took elements from the previous games and put them in this one. Every thing from characters such as Gabriel Angelos to pieces of war gear with descriptions referencing games all the way back to Winter Assault. Really impressive fan service that also made the world seem more cohesive.

The one thing I can say I miss is the optional missions. There may have been 3 or 4 instances were i could go off the main story arc and complete a none essential mission. Also there were no defense missions. I guess people didn't really like in the original, but I still missed them. The mission themselves were far more diverse in there construction and were more about servicing the story which I thought was great. Also I feel like they had a ton of material to work with but never really explored it. There were only two missions on the Space Hulk and one of them was optional.

Overall I think it was a huge step forward for this series and can't wait to see how the next expansion turns out.

If you liked Dawn of War 2 you are going to love this game, I sure as hell did but it is definitely not without flaw.  Dawn of War 2's campaign is arguably the most unique and innovative take on the RTS genre to date and Chaos Rising is essentially more of the same but with less repetition, more linearity and overall just more kick ass Warhammer goodness.    Both Dawn of War 2 and Chaos Rising do away with base building and mass army unit management in favor of small squad RPG like gameplay c...

I have to admit, I'm a huge fan of everything Relic has ever developed. I mean really, the first game of the Dawn of War-series is still one of the greatest RTS-games I have played and I still play it with my friends from time to time because of it's solid content and gameplay. The game just feels good to play and you don't find anything that bad about it if you just play and don't TRY to find the small problems every game has. But since Soulstorm (the last standalone expansion for the first gam...
