So Warhammer 40k Space Marine on Steam finally got a release date after only saying September for ages... but it says September 5th, which is 1 day before the actual retail US release date... mistake or are we being lucky for once? In fact, it says September 5th in the EUROPEAN store even, and there the release date is only on friday the 9th! The game on Steam can be pre-loaded since yesterday so I guess technically they could unlock it whenever they want, but still... sounds too good to be true (especially the european date).

Man, I cannot wait to play this. Normally I don't pre-purchase games, but I decided to buy this after playing the demo. The free copy of Darksiders is a nice bonus!

In America, this is what it says on Space Marine's Steam page:

This game will unlock in approximately 13 hours

This is at ~noon Eastern time on the 5th.

It's still not on the UK Steam store thanks to GAME threatening not to stock the game if THQ let Steam sell it. Sickening stuff.

I'm in Europe and release date has been 9th of September on Steam since the pre load started.

Could be a different distribution deal for some countries, i guess.

EDIT: looking at Steam forums it seems Germany, Norway and France are getting it early.

EDIT2: actually nevermind, there are conflicting reports on release date even from people in the same countries

I just saw this thread and looking at Steam, its telling me that its unlocking in 10 hours. Being about 1:40pm right now for me (central time), that would pretty much put it at midnight. That, of course, would not be any sort of early release.

I pre-ordered a few hours ago. I'm not sure about the hack and slash, but hey....

Still says 3 more days for me.

And in 3 more days I leave for a month to a country with completely shit internet, thank the Steam gods for preload at least.

So I just picked it up from Gamers Gate and it said that it was unlocked and ready to go. Massive bonus considering its official release here in Australia is the 9th!

Mine is 9Th september, in the morning.
