Ubisoft used to be a big Nintendo supporter, and now we're left wondering if the company will even ship the games it's promised.

Watch Dogs for Wii U didn't arrive alongside the game's launch on other platforms back in May, but the publisher's announced that version is finally arriving on November 18.

In addition to Off-TV Play, it will include a "a detailed and interactive map of Chicago" on the GamePad.

Ubisoft Bucharest is responsible for the upcoming port.

It's too bad a WiiU version of a game releasing is so rare that it's got to be a news story. I wonder how many copies it'll sell.

I'm guessing if Watch Dogs on every other platform sold like they wanted it to sell this would have been cancelled. Now they're stuck having to bleed every cent out of this "franchise".

At least the Wii u owners know what they are in for.

Maybe this makes sense so that Ubisoft can point to the total lack of sales this thing will generate as a justification for not supporting the Wii U going forward. Bit of a token effort to end internal arguments.

Nope, Ubi already said they made quite a bit of money from the sales on other platforms. It's more likely that they already had put in enough work in the Wii U port that it would make more sense to finish it and put it out instead of scrapping it because of a weak sales potential outlook

Apparently, Ubisoft wants to awkwardly release Wii U games and claim bad Wii U sales when most people are either not buying games or buying other games.

I'm calling sabotage on this one.

I hope all the negativity out there about the game and it's protagonist doesn't hurt the sales for this version.

Yeah, but WD was in development for years and was supposed to be the first big next-gen showpiece. I can't imagine they came any where near the numbers they were hoping to get after all the negative reviews and word of mouth.

@corwag: It's one Ubisofts best selling games. 4 million in the first week alone which broke all of the company records. Mainstream doesn't care or wait for review scores.

I actually liked this game, so it's cool that it's coming to a system that usually doesn't get anything but Nintendo games.

At least there'll be no visual downgrade! Seriously though, I love off-tv play, it's why I got Arkham Origins and Deus Ex for the Wii U, also they were crazy cheap. Might pick this up once the price drops in March.

Gameplay and story aside, the goofy accents just fucked this game over.

They made most of their money at launch to the point that it justified green lighting a sequel, it was too late by the time word of mouth caught up. Same thing is going to happen with Destiny

I'm surprised they're bothering at all, kudos to them for doing so I guess.

Watch Dogs wasn't a terrible game - it just didn't meet the insane hype they had set up for it, and the story/characters weren't great. The visuals look quite impressive at times (especially if cranked all the way up on PC), the introduction of *some* stealth into combat was fun, and I enjoyed using the various tools at my disposal during police chases.

It was just a lateral evolution of the Grand Theft Auto formula, and not the revolution they had portrayed it as. I think this is a game, much like Assassin's Creed, that will benefit from a sequel - meaning, a chance to learn from their mistakes, and put more time and effort into the narrative, instead of tuning the game engine.

Awesome seeing one of my shared screenshots on the homepage. That funny boat shot came from the most fun I've had with Watch_Dogs, which is boat grinding on buildings after a sick jump.

Glad WiiU is finally getting this, though seems quite too late. It's a really decent game, but was produced wrong. Best parts were the many diverse side missions, Digital Trips (which some could have been their own stand-alone games) and the traversal/physics in the open world. The story and Aiden's voice acting were bad enough to leave a very sour taste though.

As okay as this game is to me, if I were telling myself that hadn't played it whether to get the Wii U version or not, I'd say definitely not.

I own a PC and a PS4, and I decided to wait for the Wii U version of this game for some reason. I'll still buy it, glad they haven't completely abandoned it.

Chicken wrapped in tin foil and frozen is also "fine" to some people.

I wonder if they were like holding out for Nintendo to throw some money at them to compensate and at this point are just like "fuck it, just put it out."

Played this on my roommates PC that had two R9 280x's and it ran like Shiiiiiit. I'm sure it will work great on Wii U.
