In general, "The Water Level" of any given video game is the bad one, and in some cases these sequences have become infamous. Remember the Water Temple? Gloomy Galleon? Those unfortunate underwater sequences in Devil May Cry 2 that are somehow worse than the rest of the game by a wide margin? Ok, maybe that last one was just me.

Thus, I ask the question that is also the title of this topic. The closest I can get off the top of my head is Jolly Roger's Lagoon in Banjo-Tooie, but even then I wouldn't call it one of the better levels in the game. I guess you could also count Ecco the Dolphin, though that entire game is a water level.

Donkey Kong Country and Super Mario 64 because the water levels are not bad at all and have amazing music.

One bad side effect of the popularity of LP's is that now, it takes more than five seconds to find a video of a certain part of a game without some dork's voice over it.

Also, those Donkey Kong Country levels if only because of the music.

I seem to remember thinking the underwater segment in Dino Crisis 2 was kinda cool. Man, Dino Crisis 2 in general was just fucking awesome.

The swimming segments in Resident Evil: Revelations were also... inoffensive. Well they weren't terrible at least.

    Remember the Water Temple?

I actually liked the Water Temple, although that may be because I almost got through it without a walkthrough (and I went to it for the dumbest thing).

I guess you could also count Ecco the Dolphin, though that entire game is a water level.

I will, however, deny the hell out of this. As for water levels that are good....maybe Starfy would count? I mean, it's almost all just one huge water level.

Also, I remember the water temple equivalent in Primal was alright. Been a long time since I've played it, though... Always meant to give it another run.

El Nido Triangle in Chrono Cross and also Chronopolis, if that counts. Chrono Cross has a lot of water stuff in it but El Nido Triangle is great because it is short and also how you start the quest to get the most adorable JRPG character ever.

Oh, oh! There's the occasional underwater section in Puppeteer which are just as charming and whimsical as the rest of the game. Though to be fair it's literally just an aesthetic and doesn't effect the gameplay.

Jolly Roger Bay was kind of cool. You spend more time exploring underwater at your own pace than trying desperately to get to air before you drowned.

    Also, it has rad music.

I thought the galaxy games had good water levels but i don't have the blind hate of water levels some people do... on the other hand, Fuck ice levels where you can easily slip and /or you can't control your character well because of the ice or snow.

I enjoyed the Mario Galaxy water levels because the shell provided easier control. Every other water level has been to some extent frustrating for me.

The swimming in the last of us wasn't bad. Not that there's ever really a water level, but most third person action games have teeerrrible swimming mechanics.

I remember really liking the water level in Turrican 2. Mostly because of the music I think. Chris Huelsbeck made a more modern version of the theme a few years ago which I still listen to regularly. The Great Bath.

I also enjoyed the water stuff in The Last of Us.

There are so many weird and dumb names on XBL, and they're ALWAYS adjective+noun. I think one of my favorites was Unassuming Spork, or something to the like.

Nah. I've always thought it a bit tacky to have your username be something like SpoonyBard or JillSandwich... which is why my nonsensical pairing of words is so much better?
