The Weapon Repair Kit is a significantly cheaper way to repair damaged weapons in Fallout: New Vegas, rather than getting an NPC to do it for you (usually for a massive price). There are two ways to acquire a Weapon Repair Kit; you can often buy them from traders and merchants, or you may craft them at a workbench once your Repair skill reaches 50.
The effectiveness of repair to a weapon depends on your Repair skill level, and can be broken down as follows:
