    Wii Shop

    Platform »

The Wii Shop Channel was Nintendo's way of digitally distributing games. It includes WiiWare for newly developed games, as well as the Virtual Console for classic titles from various consoles and arcade systems.

I have $20 worth of Wii points.

You would get more value out of that $20 Wii Points card by just eating it, all of the games on the Wii Shop are awful, really.

Don't listen to Eman.  World of Goo, Lost Winds, Onslaught, and Bomberman Blast to name a few on WiiWare.  As for Virtual Console, there are a crap ton of classic games to get like Super Mario 64, River City Ransom, Super Street Fighter II Turbo, and Zelda: A Link to the Past.  You can always check out NintendoLife for reviews on VC and WiiWare games.

What a load of bullshit, there are a load of great games on the service, both on WiiWare and on Virtual Console.

You really do need to elaborate on your gaming preferences, Are you keen to play some truly great classics, or perhaps something new on WiiWare, which has some really great games also, For example, Bomberman Blast. Icarian Adventure, World of Goo, Lost Winds.

Preferably more classic games, but if there is a new game that is really good, i might consider it.

Mega Man 9 is awesome, if you appreciate the 8 Bit games as I do. It's killer tough and may drive you to despair at times, but if your a fan, you will still fall in love with it.

    Games I recommend:

    Gunstar Heroes
Super Mario Bros 2;The Lost Levels (original Japanese game - hard)
    Sin and Punishment
    Lost Winds WiiWare
    World of Goo WiiWare
    Megaman 9 WiiWare
    Legend of the Mystical Ninja
    Super Mario RPG
    Secret of Mana
    Bubble Bobble Plus WiiWare
    Bomberman Blast WiiWare
    Bit Trip Beat
    MUSHA
    Samurai Shodown 2
    Super Castlevania 4
    Lylat Wars
    PunchOut!!
    LoZ: Link to the Past
    Smash Bros 64
    Bomberman 93 or 94
    Air Zonk
    Star Parodier

I could go on, but with many you must of heard about. Read some reviews of course, and check out Youtube for videos.

@joey: Megaman 9 is a fantastic way to spend that money.  And I think it controls really well with the wiimote sideways.

    @Emandudeguyperson:

Serisouly? I hope your joking. Clearly you never played a single game on any console besides the next gen ones..

There's an assload of good VC games, World of Goo,  Mega Man 9, that 2D RTS (don't recall name), Bit. Trip Beat!, Bit.Trip Core (out soon), and plenty others.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll probably get LOZ: A link to the past, and Mega Man 9.

The Adventures of Lolo. I've been strongly pushing for him to appear in Smash Bros, but it still hasn't happened. Poor guy.

Actually, there's quite a few good games there, but unless you have a classic controller, steer clear of the Donkey Kong Country series. The games are almost completely unplayable with the poorly mapped controls on the Gamecube. There's no excuse for that. It's a big scam.

Super Mario RPG, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Star Fox 64, Punch-Out!!... there's all kinds of good classic games that you should play if you never have before. I think World of Goo is $15. While it's a pretty charming little game, I don't think it's worthy of the cost. Especially when you consider that you can get THE GREATEST GAME OF ALL TIME for only $10. Ya feel me?

Tales of Monkey Island is currently the best non-VC game on WiiWare.

No. Tales of Monkey Island on WiiWare is a travesty. Unless you consider an adventure game with a 5 fps cursor to be worthwhile.

Are you kidding? Mega Man 9 is awesome!
Not as good as Mega Man 2 and its hard as shit, but its really a return to form for the original Mega Man games.
If you dont already own them I would buy Mega Man 9 and Mega Man 2.
