Good Wii games I may have missed?

#1 Edited by DarthOrange (2464 posts) - 4 months, 19 days ago

What are some of the good Wii games I may have missed? I haven't played my Wii in a while, and when I did I did not play all of the gems. The big games I can think of that I have are Donkey Country, Brawl, New Mario Brothers, and Mario Kart. The biggest games on my radar are Mario Galaxy 1 & 2, Kirby Epic Yarn and Kirby Return to Dreamland. Any other ones I am missing? Also I prefer co-op, being able to play with the wiimote on its side, and not having to use that damn nunchuck (though I am willing to make an exception for those Galaxy titles every seems to love).

Also, can someone tell me why the hell the Metroid Prime Trilogy is so expensive? It is over of $100 on Amazon and ebay and this motherfucker wants $2,999 for his copy. Anyone know if Nintendo plans to release this game digitally in the future?

Silent Hill: Shattered Memories was really interesting.

This.

More recent obvious choices are Xenoblade and The Last Story, as well as Skyward Sword (which will require you to use the nunchuck but I think it's worth it).

Also, Metroid Prime Trilogy was a collector's edition, limited run sort of thing. I think they should reprint it (or, like you said, release them digitally, maybe on Wii U), but for now it's hard to come by.

It's expensive because not many were made and it's an extremely popular series of games. I wouldn't count on a digital release.

You should play Skyward Sword.

I'll stop saying it when more of you start playing it.

You can get Twilight Princess for cheap. It's way better than Skyward Sword in my opinion.

Get Rhythm Heaven Fever! Do it!

Metroid Prime Trilogy is worth that much, but you might be better off finding a Gamecube and playing the first game on one of those. I don't think the second two are as good as the first so skipping those is fine, but the first is a must play for anyone who likes video games as far as I'm concerned.

EDIT: Not to say that two and three are bad - far from it, they're great - but Metroid Prime 1 has long been in a tie for the honor of being my personal favorite game of all time and the second two don't even approach the top 50.

Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 are must plays if you like platformers, get those as soon as you can.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl is fun, especially if you have other people to play it with.

and Rhythm Heaven Fever is great too.

Yeah Twillight Princess and Skyward Sword are both pretty damn good.

@Video_Game_King: I did! It was awesome...except that last boss battle, fuck that noise

@DarthOrange: The Reason the game is expensive is that Nintendo stopped printing copies of the trilogy soon after it was released. It is really rare. I literally saw a copy of it at a gamestop go from 30 to 80 in a week.

I'm playing The Last Story right now. It's the first Wii game I have played in a year, and am enjoying it more than I thought I would. If you like JRPGs then check it out.

It gets a lot of shit from people but I actually thought Madworld was kinda fun.

Galaxy 1 and 2 are at the top of the list, and it's a pretty big dropoff after that in my opinion. Skyward, No More Heroes 2, ans Shattered Memories would round out the next tier for me.

Those all use the nunchuk. Most of the good games do because most of the good games for the Wii don't rely on gimmicky motion controls but just use the thing like a controller.

Warioware: Smooth Moves is nunchuk-free and pretty good.

#16 Posted by Bribo (485 posts) - 4 months, 19 days ago

All of the above (especially Warioware) plus Muramasa, Punch-Out and the Metal Slug Anthology for nunchuck-free goodness.

Animal Crossing: City Folk

Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Super Mario Galaxy 2

MySims

PokePark Wii: Pikachu's Big Adventure

Those were all my favorites.

Prime Trilogy was a limited release thing. Friend of mine lost his copy the first few days after buying, oops.

Animal Crossing: City Folk if you've never tried the series before. It doesn't exactly stack up for veteran fans because it's largely unchanged from the DS one, but it's technically the most iterative one at the moment.

Good luck with getting Metroid Prime Trilogy at a good price. I was lucky and got one of the last copies at Gamestop for 55....and it was used but it at least came with everything and the disc was spotless.

3 is the weakest and is borderline mediocre in comparison to the first game and partially the second one. The first two games have great worlds to traverse (1 more so than 2). 2 was just annoying with all of the dark world bullshit in having to hop from light bubble to light bubble and then there's the finite dark/light ammo. If there's any knock in playing the first 2 on Wii it's that the games are actually a whole lot easier because of how much faster you are with the motion aiming scheme. The first 2 games had a deliberate sense of movement that made you feel like you really were in a bulky suit, now they just play fast and loose like 3 does but that's more of a personal preference anyways.

The Zelda games, Xenoblade Chronicls, and The Last Story would be other good options for the list.

I'm into Skyward Sword right now, and so far its one of my favorite games in awhile. So that would be my top suggestion. The only caveat is that the more complex artwork does not hold up in the same way that Mario Galaxy does (but its still good, and the gameplay is fantastic - though you do have to have motion+).

Trauma Team is one of my favourite Wii titles.

People have already mentioned Rhythm Heaven, Warioware and the Zeldas.

Other than that I guess Little King's Story and Zack and Wiki.

We've actually still got some copies sitting at my local Wal-mart.

Xenoblade is super addicting and easily one of the best Wii games I played. I love it!

#24 Posted by Shaanyboi (1071 posts) - 3 months, 22 days ago

Mario Galaxy 2

Xenoblade

Skyward Sword

Silent Hill: Shattered Memories

Boom Blox (good party game)

No More Heroes/No More Heroes 2

de Blob

Red Steel 2 (not the best game, but mechanically interesting)

#25 Edited by Vextroid (1069 posts) - 3 months, 22 days ago

Punch Out!! and Boom Blox Bash Party.

Edit: also Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Prime 3 if you can't get the trilogy is great! I loved 1 but wasn't a fan of 2.

Sin and Punishment is a fantastic wii game I've really been enjoying it and graphics look great.

The best wii game that I honestly can't recommend enough though is endless ocean 2: blue world. There is really nothing else like it on console (besides the first) and the game has an incredible amount of depth. Did I mention the game is gorgeous and not just for a wii game.

The last story seems quality I just started to get into it through, and I hear for a jrpg it's not very long.

#27 Posted by SirShandy (37 posts) - 3 months, 22 days ago

I second Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, as well as Rhythm Heaven Fever.

Sin and Punishment 2 is pretty great.

Punch-Out Wii if you were a fan of the original titles.

The No More Hero games if you are a fan of Suda.

And I'm excited about Pandora's Tower which releases in March stateside ( though I don't know where you live.)
