How is it playing Wii games on the WiiU?

Basically the question above. When I play PS2 games on my backwards compatible PS3 I can tell a slight difference in quality and there are a couple options for how I want it to put it on screen (mostly due to the PS2 not being in widescreen). Are there any other options on the WiiU for playing the Wii? Is there a noticeable change in quality (either better or worse quality - like it may make it a little blurry going through an HDMI port)? Are loading times the same?

I am planning on finishing Xenoblade and playing Super Mario Galaxy 2 and The Last Story at some point (As well as being kind of interested in New Super Mario Bros. U an Nintendoland) so I am thinking if it is worth getting a WiiU and moving my Wii saves on to it since I am planning on playing some Wii games anyway - or if I should just wait until a couple games I am more interested in like Pikmin 2 come out?

well, it'll be over HDMI, which the wii could not do, but otherwise I think it'll be the same. Probably better color and sharper, but it doesn't run in HD or anything. Hope there aren't any emulation issues.

so i booted up an old wii game..... it straight up boots the Wii OS.... and you basically get 480p image upscaled to 1080p. So no fancy rendering to smooth out edges and whatnot, so it's pretty much a similar image to what you would get hooking up an old Wii to an HD TV with component cables.

So that WiiU pro controller is pretty much identical to a Wii Classic Controller v.2, right? Is it compatible with older Wii games that had classic controller support? I'm talking about games like Xenoblade Chronicles that were built with it in mind.

Hopefully it looks like what utilizing Dolphin on PC does. However, there we several "HD" options buried in it's UI so it's possible that it won't upscale as pretty. I won't know until around Christmas (when I may end up just buying a Wii U)

@ck1nd: it does nothing like what dolphin does. Dophin changes the internal rendering resolution to make it display 1080p.

Kind of like converting an old movie to Blu-Ray by scanning the original film vs upscaling a DVD to 1080p.

WiiU is upscaling the DVD, not remastering to blu-ray.

The Wii U classic controller is not compatible with any Wii stuff. When you boot into the Wii mode I'm pretty sure it's literally starting up an internal Wii system (much like the PS3 does with PS1 games). Only Wii remotes and controllers will work. Nothing for the U.

Well... that's pretty lame. I hate the way the current classic controller is tethered to the remote on that little like, two foot cord.

Yeah, it's this. Tried out DKCR and it's about the same as using a Wii with 480p.
