I am really enjoying this after my first week!

I know there is alot to shit on with this system, and it seems like people have been fairly disappointed with the launch. I have to say that I am really enjoying it after my first week.

My wife got this for us as an early Christmas gift, it was the deluxe and we have two games ZombiU and Mario Bros. It has been a long time since we have sat around playing games together, my 3 year old daughter is actually able to play an enjoy herself with us in Mario and Nintendoland!

The community stuff (miiverse) is instantly appealing, I can see the other systems taking cues into how this was implemented. It's so cool pause a game jump into its community and see posts from other people.

Visuals are great, the Nintendo style transfers very well into HD. Even if they aren't going to be on par with consoles next gen I atleast think Nintendos art style has a charm the other systems don't.

I had a wii and always felt it was gimmick and did not enjoy motion controls much at all. I am hoping with the new controller this system has games less based around that. The gimmick of the second screen actually has potential for some interesting game mechanics.

I'm hoping to add some people to my friends list from Gb since as of now I have none. I am also wondering who else is actually enjoying the system without feeling any disappointment?

P.s.

Posted this from my phone at work so I can't edit my post sorry for any errors I may have missed.

I purchased the same set up just a week ago. I too was very impressed. For all the negative press people seem to throw at the system, I think if people actually gave it a fair shake, they too would be surprised at just how good the game pad and its usage feels. Mario was a bit of a let down, but Nintendoland is a fantastically meaty game, even single player, and ZombiU has been downright incredible. Maybe the most fun I've had with a game this year.

Ive enjoyed what I have played of Mario so far, maybe it helps that I missed out on the other new games.

I'm trying desperately to resist the the Urge to pick this thing up. I admit some of the negativity is justified (profile locked to one console can not transfer saves ect ect) I also fear 3rd parties will ignore this thing and all the center screen will ever be used for is a god damn map... But even with that said Nintendo is damn charming and the Mii verse and the insane potential for Tv tag makes want to pick this thing up ASAP!

Getting one for Christmas, can't wait to check out the actual system, less thrilled for the selection of games presently, but I can wait for something special to come around. Still need to catch up on some good 3DS games anyway.

I've been flirting with the idea of getting one for a while now. I can't think of anything I want for Christmas. It was between this and a 3DS. You may have convinced me to get one.

Glad you guys are enjoying yours, mine is just collecting dust after a month of having it. I like the setup on the tv, pad is a little unfamiliar but could of dealt with that. However the touchscreen is terrible, too many games are uncompatible with switching, its too uncomfortable for my big hands you cant reach the triggers properly and its something i consider just a gimmick which i dont need to enhance the experience at all. Load times are as we know too long.

By far the biggest problem however is that i paid £280 for a console that is on par with the one i dont even play in the living room, that is approaching ps3 launch prices. For that price i at least expected something better, some people dont find fault in this, but why should we pay this amount for technology that is cheap by todays standards?

Meh i treat myself for christmas, least zombiu was pretty good.

I ordered mine on the 24th as just part of my christmas thing (i got some money, why not, right?) I do wonder a little if im going to be punished a bit for not owning a 3DS with the console. Nintendo are very good at making that stuff feel like its needed to really use the system and yea, while the system is kinda nice with the screen. Im a bit worried down the line, you know? So saying that...i also have a Wii coming to i can start playing some of the gamecube games i missed playing back in the day. (Remember when gamecubes were cheaper then the games for then? XD)

I got my Wii U though for STUPID money. Game.co.uk in the UK was selling the black console with zombiU (not the bundle, just + zombiu) for £309.99....which was £30 cheaper then with mario! so...i just got that + mario anyway XD for about the same price. Was kinda insane. :) Shall say if its awesome or not in a few days i guess.
