Whenever I hear the words "I bought a Wii U" this is the only thing I can think about:
Wii U
Platform »
The Nintendo Wii U, the follow-up to the monstrously popular Nintendo Wii console, launched in North America on November 18th 2012.
I Bought a Wii U!
I just picked up one myself. I bought a couple Wii games to play too (Last Story and Xenoblade Chronicles)
Im liking it and cant wait for Bayonetta 2
I really love the new trend of game characters taking selfies. I will never not find that hilarious. I've been thinking of getting a Wii U soon. It's so cheap! While Nintendo as a business seems a bit weird right now; I still think they have a great approach to game design in general, and consistently enjoy their games. I'll probably pick one up later this year. I actually really enjoy the "New Super Mario" series. They're a bit floaty but overall they play well and look real cool (though the music is pretty bleh).
Like last generation I think Nintendo's console makes a very solid second console choice. Last gen I rocked the Xbox 360 + Wii combo, this generations I'm going PC and Wii U. The libraries on PC, PS4 and Xbox One overlap so much that I really can't justify owning two of them, but the Wii U is going to have a ton of worthwhile exclusives, and in terms of first party stuff is easily the strongest out of all of them. If I only played a few games a year I could make do with the Wii U alone.
@supermike6: Since I wrote this blog, I finished New Super Luigi U, which I did really like overall. It's definitely floatier, but as I wrote in the blog, I really liked the shorter, faster levels. There were a couple of frustrating spots I got stuck in, but I think overall it's pretty great.
I'm enjoying playing through NSMBU with my girlfriend, and MarioKart is awesome. I'm pretty frustrated with having to port over my Wii content to my Wii U manually, instead of all that being saved in the cloud, but other than that, I'm really happy with my purchase. I might grab NSLU, but it depends on how much my GF wants to.
Got mine recently as well. So far I'm playing wonderful 101 and mario kart. Also picked up galaxy 1 and 2 since I never got a wii.
The Wonderful 101 is the game of the decade and well worth the price of the console on it's own, and I have to say the controller is better than I thought it would be from just looking at it. Touch isn't capacitive but it's still responsive, and I don't mind the stick placement or ergonomics either. It's no DS4, but what is. Getting zombi u in the mail on monday along with some more wii stuff (deadly creatures, YEAH!) and I think I'm gonna pick up a pro controller.
@madman356647: for how much?? Don't think ive seen either go for less than $60 USD used
I really should get back to playing with my Wii U, but I haven't been compelled to in... several months, actually. I've been in a video game funk lately so it might be time to dust of the Wii U and finish what games I have for it like Super Mario 3D World which actually is pretty great and highly recommended. I did like NSMBU, but it does play it a bit too safe. Maybe this copy of NSLBU I bought a while back needs to be cracked open.
Also, Earthbound. Buy it, play it, and thank me later.
@ripelivejam: got xenoblade and last story as a buy 2 get one. With some trade ins I got 40 for those n super mario galaxy 2
I also got a Wii U recently and think it's FULLY RAD. Controller, like all controllers, take a little while to get used to, but I find it totally fine. I also got the bigger battery pack, which is highly recommended. I can actually do a few game sessions with no recharge.
Also Zombi U is actually totally great.
