The Wii U Basic model will see a $100 markdown at Wal-Mart in Canada, and will sell for $199, according to a scan of the retailer's latest advertisement obtained by Gimme Gimme Games.

The markdown will go into effect on Friday, August 2, according to the advertisement. The 8GB Basic model currently retails for $300, while the 32GB Deluxe edition goes for $350. ..

Nintendo has had a tough time moving Wii U units since launch, selling only 160,000 systems during the April-June quarter and 3.61 million systems overall. Asda, a Wal-Mart subsidiary and the United Kingdom's second-largest supermarket, stopped stocking the Wii U in its stores this week.

I just want Galaxy 3 and Zelda at this point. Here's to another year til E3.

If anyone wants this thing I recommend you also pick up the deluxe charger. The memory really makes no difference, just slap an external drive to it and it will be fine.

At that price, I'll buy one. Hell, PS3s still cost 300 dollars.

If the premium model is $250 then I would consider it. There are upcoming Wii U games that interest me but I am not paying $350 for one.

Until there are games I want to play, it really doesn't matter to me how low the price goes.

I have to say this is tempting. I want me some Wonderful 101, Bayonetta 2, Super Mario 3D Land and i WILL buy Earthbound on the vc.

What exactly is the difference between the two versions? I recently played Nintendoland with some friends and thought it was pretty much garbage. Is there any other difference besides the memory?

Only in Canada? Lame.

Memory is really the only real difference. I never saw much of any reason to get the basic version. Though both models are compatible with external hard drives, so memory size isn't a real issue, anyway.

As far as I know, this is a strategy game made by Atlus that combines both franchises. I'm just curious about the "strategy game" and "Atlus" part, since I've been hearing some not great things about Devil Survivor lately. I love the idea, but are Atlus's attempts at turn based strategy games usually that great?

I don't know, man. Shadow Dragon was pretty boring and I almost didn't buy Awakening because I couldn't make myself play much more of SD. But then I did and now I know that Awakening is fantastic.

In the meantime, I was trying to confirm my assumptions that SMTxFE is a strategy game and that doesn't seem too clear at the moment.

I'll still maintain that Shadow Dragon's the best version of the original game that's possible to make. That doesn't make it great, but it does take the original concepts as far as they'll go (and then adds that reclass feature nobody ever really used).

I was like "Oh. Great. I was just thinking of getting one. It's a shame it's only in the States, though - as everything else always is." Damn. This is great, I better go find one!

I'd buy one for $99, "you heard that Nintendo!"....

Honestly, they could have done better, like inserting support relationships and conversations and other modern elements into the game.

Not really. If they could insert support conversations into Shin Monshou no Nazo, there's no reason that they couldn't do it for Shadow Dragon. It would have also gone a long way toward giving the characters more depth, considering how flat the characterization in Shadow Dragon is.

Also Shadow Dragon is the worst modern Fire Emblem game with how dry and boring it is, not to mention its dodge formula.

Yes, I am going to go there. The dodge formula using Speed x1 instead of Speed x2 in the DS games made avoid-oriented units far less useful. And don't forget the side chapters that required you to kill off half your characters to ever reach them. Or how reclass was sort of useless.

Might hook me at 150 after Bayonetta 2, Wind Waker HD, and X come out.

Gah, very tempting! Seeing as I am a Nintendo fan, I would love a Wii-U, just don't have the funds.
