A letter to my Wii.

Posted by Hizang (8534 posts) -

Dear Wii.

How are you doing? It has been a while since we last spoke and I am writing to you to apologise for the distance I have put between us over the years, I know we haven't always been on the best of terms and I cam't say how sorry I am about that Mario Party 9 thing but I really think we should spend more time together. I look at you now sat beside the PS3 and I know that every time I put a PS3 game in or turn it on your looking at me in disgust. I see your blue lights flashing at night and I know your trying to send me a message and I think I get it.

As of now I promise to spend more time with you, I have put in new batteries in to all of my Wii Motes seeing as the others are all flat (Even though I suspect they went flat with no use) and I dusted off my Golden classic controller and even dug out my red wrist strap. I have organised my Wii games in to two piles, uncompleted games and completed games, this only makes me want to spend time with you more since I see the error of my ways. I have had a Wii since you came out, even though you are an updated and flashier version you still have the same soul. The games seem one sided as I have only completed less than 10 games out of my 50 or so games. Over the course of 5 years this really is not right at all.

What I'm trying to say is I am very sorry and I hope that we can start seeing each other again, please get back to me if your willing to give it another go.

Yours faithfully, Hizang.

Dear Wii,

I don't even remember which dark corner of this place I left you in, but I hope you're well. That Xenoblade game is out now, and The Last Story too, maybe we'll have to meet up and check them out, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. Our relationship ended a long, long time ago, and frankly, it's an old flame I feel no desire to kindle. We had some fun, but let's be honest, the bad times far outweighed the good. Remember Red Steel? The Conduit? Neither do I, but my soul still bears the scars. Me and your old friend SNES have been getting along well lately, she just seems to 'get me', you know? With her, I always know I'm gonna have a good time, which sadly isn't something I could say about you. N64 gave me a call too, we've had some fun but we're taking it slow for now. I was thinking of inviting both of them round at the same time and seeing how it goes, but I won't go into details. As much as it must pain you to hear this, I feel like I have so many better options these days and I just don't care about you the way you care about me.

You know me Wii, I'm the sort of guy who never says never, but in your case, I'll make an exception.

Dear Wii,

tell Nintendo to include trophies or an achievement system and I might buy you.

I've been playing Metroid Prime 3 recently. It's pretty good. I guess I should go back and play more of the Wii games I missed.

Dear Wii,

Oh I don't actually own a Wii. I may get your younger prettier sister though if shes backwards compatible, if you know what I mean.

Hey Wii,

I've played more games on you than any other system so far this year. Yeah, I know it's weird. I'll see you shortly.

Sincerely,

Mento.

P.S. Fuck yeah, Xenoblade. And The Last Story. I'm this close to caving in and buying Pandora's Tower to complete the Rainfall trilogy.

Dearest Wii,

Good to see you, it's been a while. I got Xenoblade Chronicles over the weekend, and I'm glad I did. (Even though it almost made be break the bank!) You were neglected for a while, but due to the fact that I have nothing to play on my other systems, you'll be garnering my full attention for the foreseeable future. Thanks for standing by and waiting patiently for me to turn you back on after weeks and weeks of neglect. You've been a good and longsuffering system. Hopefully, I can get more games for you in the coming months, and we can enjoy many hours together. Thanks for not complaining, even when it seemed hopeless.

Your Friend,

Dear Wii,

I wanted to buy The Legend Of Zelda to play on you, but then i remembered that you still have motion controls. Maybe next time, please stop staring at me while i sleep.

Dear Wii,

You were the only console I ever waited in line for on launch day, 13 hours to be exact. Little did I know that Nintendo already put the best game that would ever be released for you in the box you came with, Wii Sports.

Don't feel bad though, gimmicks only get you so far.

Dear Wii,

Lets be honest, you're only good for Nintendo games.

Still like you,

Ducksworth

Dear Wii,

I bought you for my fiancée for her birthday. We enjoyed Super Mario Brothers Wii quite a bit, but otherwise found you pretty lacking (in your defence, Galaxy gave us both motion sickness).

I like your style, and you are fun at parties, but I ultimately don't regret trading you in for 360 slim after our other 360 died horribly on its 3rd rrod.

Hope the Wii-U is less primitive and has more games worth playing!

Regards,

Tim the Corsair

Dear Wii,

Yea, sorry you are still not invited.

Dear Wii,

When I first got you I was very happy but then nothing came out for you so I got a 360 and was able to play games again, now I look at you from across the room and wonder what if. Oh well I hear Xenoblade is pretty good. Maybe just maybe if I get Xenoblade we can try this thing again and see where we go from there.

P.S.

I really want to finish Tales of Symphonia Dawn of the New World and Skyword Sword one day.

Love, Nux

Dear Wii,

We would play Wii sports Bowling more often if we had a bigger living room. So it wasn't your fault it was ours!

#29 Posted by Rudeboy217 (1760 posts) -

Dear Wii,

I remember I wanted you so bad. I was looking for you for months on end. And then I finally found you. I remember playing online Brawl and that was a real bummer. I also remember being genuinely happy with many of the games that were being released for you. But that was not enough for me. I would soon get a 360 and completely push you out of my life, hidden away in a closet. 60000 gamerscore later, it is now 2012 and Xenoblade was just released in America. It has been sometime since I have last played a JRPG and I am totally stoked to be playing you again.

You are still a neat thing and I am happy you were my introduction to this current generation.

Dear Wii,

Don't listen to what others say, what my friends say, what my wife says or even what my kids say, I don't think you're useless. I'd just like to thank you for the HOUR AND HOURS of gaming pleasure you've given me over the years.

I mean before you, playing Gears of War was a chore because my TV would tilt thanks to a lop-sided TV cabinet, and lets face it, it wasn't going to prop itself up now was it.

Me and my K/D thank you lil buddy.
