Nintendo in conjunction with Tokyo based developing partners Paon, are bringing "Aqua Living" to Nintendo's WiiWare service in Japan.

Aqua Living isn't a conventional videogame, instead it's virtual aquarium software with a little depth. You select your aquariums theme, set up its layout, and populate it with chosen fish, then watch, learn, and interact.

    • Your can alter the appearance of the aquarium by changing the music, wallpaper, tank layout, and fish settings.
    • You can select the number and type of fish that they want.
    • Your aquarium layout is edited on a 2D overhead graph, where users position objects.
    • While viewing the aquarium,  you can choose from various angles, move the camera around the aquarium, and zoom in and out and rotate the view.
    • You can set your focus on any particular fish.
    • The game includes a" fish cam"  which gives a fish eye view of the aquarium from any of the fish you have.
    • You can send your Mii's into the aquarium to swim around and explore.
    • Your Mii's can jump in and feed your fish directly.
    • The game also includes an educational component, in the form of an easily browsable detailed fish guide.

There will be 8 aquarium themes available:

    • Black Light
    • Gold Fish
    • Guppy
    • Characiformes
    • Angel Fish
    • Arowana
    • Variety 1
    • Variety 2

     -  all of which equate roughly to around 40 different types of fish.

Aqua Living will arrive on the Japanese WiiWare service on March 2nd priced at 800 Nintendo Points.

Looks much better than that other aquarium software. I want this on PC to set as screensaver (or 7 wallpaper!).

So it's a prettier My Aquarium. Even if it barely counts as a game, it should sell better than the other aquarium games on WiiWare.

Wait... what the fuck? There's competition in the virtual aquarium market?
