Jeff gave it a 4/5
The community was small when it came out and I wanted to do a tourney here for my 2009 celebration of giantbomb....

The Nintendo Wii is a home video game console released on November 19, 2006. The Wii's main selling point was the innovative use of motion controls that its signature Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers allowed for. It became the best selling home console of its respective generation of hardware.
Brawl was not popular here.
You try to set up a tournament not twenty minutes ago, and because no one comes rushing in, you assume Brawl wasn't popular. I recall the game being quite big here when it came out. Maybe people have moved on.... Or maybe there is another reason no one is signing up.
Personally, I hate that fucking game, and if I never hear that music or those sound effects ever again, I may have a chance at dying a less miserable person.
Unless you bump it every once and a while to keep it on top of general discussion or that it gets stickied you won't get many participants since hardly anyone will even see the sign up thread. GiantBomb's forum structure is a pure nightmare for organising events and solid community interaction.
I would have entered myself but since I am no where near to where most of the players will be from it would be a pure lag fest me.
Keep in mind a lot of newer games came out, especially for this year. Here is a list of the major fighters come out after Brawl. So take in consideration that there so fairly arbitrary Dragonball Z and Naruto games in the mix.
2009 fighters
Street Fighter 4
BlazBlue
Marvel vs Capcom 2 (first time to be viable online multiplayer)
Tekken 6
Battle Fantasia
King of Fighters 13
Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny
Dissidia Final Fantasy
2008 Fighters
Bleash: Dark Souls
Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix
Soul Calibur 4
Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe
" @Willy105 said:Big for a Giantbomb Wii game board, but not compared to other games." Smash Bros. Brawl is primarly a local multiplayer game. Of course it's not going to get much discussion here. Even the review said so. "Fool. Look at the post count on the brawl forums. "

Giantbomb launched four months after SSBB. It stands to reason that it isn't an incredibly popular forum here because most people can't stay that excited for a game for four months (though I suppose that it did come out in Australia and Europe only about a month before Giantbomb launched). Combine that with the fact that the "tournament scene" for this game is even more niche than most fighting games, and you have a general lack of enthusiasm on the Brawl boards.
4 out of 5 is a good score
if you don't like it, shove it out your ass and join the WII defense force
" @ZombieHunter: I DID THE FRICKEN TOURNAMENT FOR SFIV.... scrub. "If im a scrub your and idiot because 4/5 is Great for a game and brawl is certainly not a 5/5
second who the fuck wants to play brawl over all the better fighting games out now, also don't make a thread bitching because nobody wants in your you brawl tournament that game kind of sucks and getting a tournament on the wii going is a ridiculous hassle
I don't think that you can really compared the SF4 and the SSBB brawl forums. I'm sure hell of a lot of people on the site have SSBB perhaps even more then SF4 but it is more of a casual audience (myself being a big example of this) that does not check out the game it's own board and thus will probably not even see that there is a tournament in the organisation since a thread only stays on the front page of general discussion for so long. Whereas the SF4 players actually form a community." Giantbomb launched four months after SSBB. I'm pretty sure that a SSBB tournament thread if it was made a sticky would have plenty of people wanting to give it a go.
The way that the Giant Bomb forums work making threads on less visited game-page "invisible" for those who are not refreshing general discussion every 20 min is the thing that is to blame for this in my opinion.

" We've all moved onto Jackie Chan: Fist of Fire. It's just the better fighting game with much tighter tiers and all around better community. You can join my JCFoF tourney if you want to move to the brighter side. "Who's your main? My Jackie Chan will completely crush whatever character you are.

4/5 seems kinda low for sucha good game.
The reason I wanted to have a tourney is because, while SF is in fact better, I wanted to change it up.
Lot's of people here play Brawl. I have about four friends who I play Brawl with at my place, or theirs. It's more enjoyable when you are playing with people in person.
I think it could have been a five star game, but Jeff's review is great, and it reflects the four star rating.
