The Nintendo Wii is a home video game console released on November 19, 2006. The Wii's main selling point was the innovative use of motion controls that its signature Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers allowed for. It became the best selling home console of its respective generation of hardware.

So, I received the dreaded "Corrupted System Files" message when booting my Wii yesterday.  Powering off and on didn't help, but unplugging the unit and leaving it for off for a few minutes allowed it to start up again.

Sadly, the error message came back today, and went away with the same procedure.

I assume my internal memory is on the way out.  Has anyone sent their console to Nintendo for repair for this problem?  I really don't want to lose my save games, Miis, and board messages.
I backed up what i could, but apparently you can't copy saves from wi-fi enabled games to an SD card.

    Any success stories?

It's good to know that it might not be as permanent as the error would have you believe.

My system has been working fine, as long as I put the unit into sleep mode (red light).  I wonder if the console was overheating, as it gets really warm in standby.

I also wonder if perhaps this all is the result of the latest firmware upgrade.  I wouldn't put it past Nintendo to be overly cautious to bust all system hackers as to call up a few false positives.  Considering that I've never even tried to hack my system, it would be another example of punishing people who follow the rules and leaving the pirates to do as they would anyway.

It is probably the update as that is the reason why I have been getting that message.

So, I just got my Wii back from Nintendo repair.

Apparently, despite the data fully working when I booted the system the lion;s share of the time, and it clearly being salvageable, Nintendo opted to just wipe my system memory.
So $85 later, I'm left with the laziest fix possible.  They even said that they couldn't recreate the error message, but still "couldn't recover the data".

Seriously, don't send your system to Nintendo unless it's bricked or smoking.  Otherwise, you'll very likely be left with nothing.

It's a shame, especially considering Nintendo used to have excellent repair services.  Now, it's all about pushing as many systems back out the door as possible, customer coming last.
