The Nintendo Wii is a home video game console released on November 19, 2006. The Wii's main selling point was the innovative use of motion controls that its signature Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers allowed for. It became the best selling home console of its respective generation of hardware.

I don't really use my Wii (it's in the attic as I type) but I'll pull it out if you really feel like playing someone. I'm not a big fan of Super Smash Brothers, but ironically, I've won many tournaments with the game, and I've gotten a lot of extra money from it. Send me a private message if you're interested.

Most who see this probably pity you as you seem too old -- that would mean anything over 12 -- to consider putting others' enjoyment down fun. What is this, some kind of forum-based griefing? Try playing some games on your superamazing platform of choice instead.

Add me, too! None of the people on my friends list play on Brawl anymore, so I just play Basic Brawl and Team Battle with random strangers. It's really fun, but it's funner to be able to set the rules sometimes too. :P

When you Spectate, you're just watching recordings of matches played before, so your internet is only required to temporarily download these matches and watch them.

Basic Brawl is a bit difficult to get working. Basically, Nintendo's Wi-Fi servers pair you up with someone as close to you as they can and then once you're in a match, the game is played via P2P (player to player) meaning that all players are dependant on each other, internetwise. If one person in the match has a bad connection, the whole game will lag.

The reason you probably can't find people on Basic Brawl is because your firewall in your router (assuming you're using one) is blocking access to most people. If you let your Wii bypass your router (by either portforwarding or DMZ'ing), then you'll be able to connect to a lot more people. It's a bit of a hassle to do and if you want to do it, I'll explain it to you.

    hey

i decided to test out mario kart to see if that works online
    Works 100%

i can play with a full house and not get any lagg at all - and finding people to race against is actually really fast

which would lead me to the "Searching local area nonesence" - if thats the case i may never see a "play against everyone" match :/

Nay. It always has 12 players no mater what, so if you're playing with someone in your friends list then those would be bots. Up to 2 can playing the same Wii.

It's not as laggy as it used to be online now that the traffic has fallen. Also, it's a blast in local multi player (yes, I said I don't own it, doesn't mean I haven't played it). Not a waste by far. You forgot you already commented with your bs in here, or what?

Why do people waste their time to come in here and post flamebait and other irrelevant garbage? It's pretty annoying.

But online Mario Kart is not P2P. It's server based. Which means that there is lag, but it's not noticeable (ie. players are small bit ahead on their own screens than they are one another's screen, or if it is noticeable, players usually skip or jump around). Brawl, if it was server based, would not be playable at all. Players would be jumping all around the screen and lagging badly.

Making a fighting game playable online can only be done through P2P, or extremely well done servers I suppose, and even then, all players must have a stable connection.

Not many people play on Basic Brawl.

Most people that play Smash Bros. online play it using Friend Codes. It's more reliable, you can have friends there, do tournaments, and have a lot of game modes. Also, lag is rare.
