Hooking Wii up to HDMI (or VGA) only HDTV with adapters?

I need to hook up a Wii for my gf. She only has an HDMI & VGA monitor, its 16:9 so the aspect ratio when stretched should be fine.

Are there any cheap ways to convert composite/component to vga or hdmi? I dont want to buy a converter box, too pricey.

i bought the ViewHD Wii2HDMI to hook it up to my monitor. It was 35 bucks on amazon. I dont know if that qualifies as cheap? Other than that, there is the Vdigi Wii VGA cable for 40 bucks without shipping.
