Netflix Wii Get!!

Posted by Emilio (3380 posts) -

So here are some pics, taken from my DSi ( because I'm poor and a bastard and cannot afford a real camera ).
Compared to the PS3 Netflix, it is a tiny bit different. I don't want to say that its slightly better, because they are the same thing, but I do want to say that it is easier to go browse around compared to the 360 and PS3 Netflix.

Also, the controller has little functions. Control Pad does navigation, 1 button plays, B button goes back...and so on.

The video quality is that of streamed DVD quality, so what can you expect? If you have Netflix and a Wii, or know someone that has a Wii, make sure to get yourself your free disc

From what I have heard is that the 360 is best and Wii is not to far behind which is quite surprising and good news.

Wii just cant do 1080p, 480 is close enough i suppose.

Well I personally like this one better than the 360 one. I don't remember if the 360 has the ability to add moves in your queue from the other categories, but the Wii one lets you add them from browsing the uploaded selections.

Also the instant play 1 Button is pretty sweet.

Actually, HD movie streaming is still pretty shitty, given the amount of data that needs to be streamed compared to the average connection speed.  I don't know of any service that actually offers full 1080p movie streaming.

Not bad, lets hope it proves popular, I'd like to see the service brought to Nintendo's next console.

I'm pretty sure it will. I won't be surprised if there's like a zillion new Netflix accounts due to this.

How does netflix work by the way? Do you just pay a set sum per month or do you pay per movie?

#9 Posted by Quacktastic (1066 posts) -
@Rallier:
You can get it for like 8 or 9 dollars a month.  Full instant streaming and a DVD queue. If you add more DVDs or upgrade to BRDs the price goes up.  So one payment per month.

I really don't want to watch movies one my Wii.

Also, no HD.

@Quacktastic: Oh wow that is really inexpensive.

Yeah he's right. 8 dollars a month for 1 DVD out at a time + Ulimited streaming across any platform (PC, TV, PS3, 360, Wii).

Yeah, I don't either. But I'll watch movies on my TV instead.

@Rallier Yeah it's a good deal the only bad part is the movies you stream maybe one out of 50 would you actually want to watch. The good stuff you have to have shipped to you. @Emillo as far as the X360 version you can queue up movies as well. The only thing I am missing is the one button lol but the advantage is I don't have to put a disc in every time.

I am also going to try this to see if Netflix is worth my time (I use Redbox). Hopefully my internet connection can handle it.

Netflix sent me some 1 month coupons for "Friends and Family". If you want a code just send me a PM.

@EightBitShik: True, but there are some good tv series you can watch streaming. Thats a plus.

Plus you can throw a bunch of stuff you probably wont watch on there and one day when you're totally wiped out you can start watching it. Stuff that you would never rent, but are slightly curious about. For example I just started watching Spartacus: Blood and Sand, which  is not bad if you like 300/Caligula style warfare/soft core porn.

I have tried the 1080p streaming on Netflix, and it's quite poor. If I want to watch Bluray, I go down to my local videoshop (they have or get whatever obscure movie I want) and rent the discs. I am really happy this is working for the Wii.

Meh. Then it's good enough. Options, options, options, options.
