Nintendo have filed a tradmark for, "Zii", leading may to speculate whether this could be the name of the sucessor to Wii. Nintendo may have some minor opposition in the form of this company, if that is the case.

The Nintendo Wii is a home video game console released on November 19, 2006. The Wii's main selling point was the innovative use of motion controls that its signature Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers allowed for. It became the best selling home console of its respective generation of hardware.
Nintendo Trademark "Zii"
" Wii Zii, 4/20 release date? "I see what you did there. Anyway Maybe it is for a product coming out and/or some new tech.

I feel ashamed for such a horrible joke, but nonetheless, I'm sure if there is an validity to them making a Wii Zii, it would probably stick to their naming convention. Wii = we, Zii = see. That's my guess. So probably a camera peripheral, seeing as they've already added cameras to the DS, doesn't seem that farfetched.
That sounds like a name someone would use for some Wii knock-off like the Vii.
I think some of the other users are right in that this was done to prevent the usage of the name for future copycat products.
From destructoid:
Before we start speculating (as we often do with Trademarks, because it's fun), Endadget points out that filing may be a renewal of a trademark request from 2006. The company also trademarked "Cii," "Bii," "Oii,"and "Yii"; quite a trademark rampage there.
So, unless they plan 5 new consoles I don't think these refer to a brand new system.
" From destructoid:Oh god, can you imagine that? "I got a Nintendo Wii, Cii, Bii, Yii... and Oii!"

" If it's to protect themselves, please tell me why they haven't yet sued Creative. Seriously. "Perhaps because they didn't make a game console or are not in direct competition with Nintendo.
" @AndrewB said:They may not be an incredible threat, but the Zii is a handheld computer with the capability to run the Android OS. Not only does that mean they'd have acess to any Android developed games, it's one of their marketing points on the device's website. That makes it very much a direct competitor to Nintendo, especially their handheld market, and companies have sued for far less." No lawsuit because it may not be illegal? Trademarks can be regional, there's nothing necessarily malicious about Zii really, it's different enough to not give the impression it tries to pass as a Wii at all. So, since Nintendo hadn't already trademarked Zii in the same region they're fine.
