Fairly respectable lists with some really good games, but I still feel like the rest of the major gaming platforms (360, PS3, and PC) have all of the truly important must-play titles. Wii games simply cannot compare to the likes of Assassins Creed, Mass Effect, Borderlands, Modern Warfare 2 etc... Some Wii titles are a lot of fun (typically the first-party games) but other systems are leagues and bounds ahead of them in depth and particularly online gameplay. Also it always makes me sad to see PS2 and Gamecube games included on "must have Wii games" lists.

The Nintendo Wii is a home video game console released on November 19, 2006. The Wii's main selling point was the innovative use of motion controls that its signature Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers allowed for. It became the best selling home console of its respective generation of hardware.

Updated the OP with Xenoblade and The Last Story.
I removed The Grinder by popular demand. :)
But I added Gladiator A.D. in return.
" Updated the OP with Xenoblade and The Last Story.Oh god, you're killing me man.

Added Sonic 4 and De Blob 2.
Added Trauma Team.
Can someone help me out? I'm starting to like my Wii, and I want a game that will make me like it more. I have played Super Mario Galaxy, Twilight Princess, Super Paper Mario, Mario Kart Wii, No More Heroes, No More Heroes 2, Super Smash Bros Brawl... and I think that's it. Oh, and I have Mega Man 9 and a bunch of VC games.
I would get the Metroid Trilogy game, but I've never played a Metroid Prime and I don't know if it's for me. And, didn't they stop making it?
I'm open to anything, even WiiWare stuff.
@TheJollyRajah: The one thing you need to know about Metroid Prime is that it is not an FPS game, but a First-Person action adventure. It is like the other Metroid games, only in first-person. Have you played Castlevania? Shadow Complex? It is like that. You have to tolerate respawning enemies in areas you have already visited. This is what kills these games for me, but for many people it doesn't.
What are your preferences? The only game you can recommend without thinking twice and without knowing the other one's game preferences is Wii Sports Resort.
Wiiware has a couple of demos, by the way.
@ScrappyDoo: Every once in a while, a game comes along that does videogame storytelling right - That doesn't rely on movies and bad script but instead chooses to involve the player in the telling of the story, world and characters. There was Silent Hill 2, then there was Shadow of the Colossus, then there were HL2 and Portal, and now there is Shattered Memories.
As I said before in this thread, in my book it is one of the best games of the last 10 years - that alone would not justify this position, but since it got "best Wii game" and "best ending" on Giantbomb, I feel comfortable leaving it there.
I'd recommend Trauma Centre New Blood (why isn't it up there with the original?) as well as NHL 2k10 and Tiger Woods 10 for sports games.
- Moved Endless Ocean 2 as it has been released in Europe
- Added Shiren the Wanderer, Trauma Center: New Blood and NHL10.
Added a bunch of upcoming Wiiware games: Megaman 10, Toribash, Trackmania Wii, Ghostslayer and Super Meat Boy.
The consummate Wii games list now includes over 100 games.
I will ask again for this thread to get anchored instead of my other, outdated one in hopes of some mod reading this.

They're Metroid games in first-person, putting an emphasis on exploration and item collection over "Dur-hur bang bang" combat (though there's plenty of shooting in there). The original Metroid Prime more than the others has the feeling of a traditional Metroid title, while Metroid Prime 2 amps up the challenge of combat to a significant degree. Metroid Prime 3 is the best looking of the trilogy, obviously, and introduces some new twists like Hyper Mode and other very Wii-specific features. However, it is true that Metroid Prime Trilogy is no longer being produced and Nintendo is no longer shipping copies. Barring that, Metroid Prime 3 is a good choice by itself, and you don't need to have played the first two games to jump in, though it does help to be at least a little familiar with the important elements of the story arc, which thankfully doesn't require an encyclopedia.
As far as other games are concerned, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom is a must if you like fighting games at all. The crazy nature of the Vs. games might appeal to you if you're into Smash Bros. Punch-Out!! is great old-school fun and well worth playing, and the Trauma Center series is always good for for very intense puzzle solving.
I demand you move Resident Evil 4 to the must have list.
J/K but it is one of my top 10 all time favorite games.
Changed Trackmania from Wiiware to retail
Added Tenchu, Blast Works, Cave Story, La Mulana, Toki Tori, MaBoShi, LIT, Contra Rebirth and Phoenix Wright.
I would to nominate MLB Power Pros. to the Fan Favorites list. It's a much deeper baseball game than the cover suggests. It's gameplay is reminiscent to the old RBI baseball games, which is quite good, and they have plenty of modes to keep you busy. It has a RPGish mode where you become a college kid trying to make the majors and you can control your character in the baseball games when he plays. There is also an MLB season mode that is done like the franchise modes in MLB 2K and The Show. Overall, the game was very well done and I'm disappointed that 2K didn't publish it for 2010. It seems that the game was too niche to sustain itself for long. I recommend this game to baseball fans though. It's on par with The Show.
Added MLB Power Pros to fan favorites
Removed GhostSlayer (has been released; I like it very much, but it clearly isn't what you'd call a good game)
Added FlingSmash and Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands
" Mario Kart Wii and Twilight Princess are must-haves, but Resident Evil 4, Okami and Zack & Wiki aren't? Really? "I wouldn't call them must-haves, but their great games none the less.
I would recommend swapping Dead Space Extraction and Resident Evil 4. I'd never touched RE4 before playing through it on the Wii, and I had such a good time with it that I'm probably going to buy the Gold Edition of RE5 when it comes out on the 360. The only real knock against it is that it's been out on other platforms, but that seems highly irrelevant to me when we're talking about game recommendations.
Added Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing to 2nd-tier-awesomeness, because apparently, that game is pretty great. Can anyone confirm this? I haven't yet played it myself.
@Meowayne:
No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle should definitely be on the top tier list also.
Mega Man 10 WiiWare

Kirby's Epic Yarn and Disney's Guilty Party are clearly 2 of the best games the Wii has to offer. Even if they have specific applications.
