Sickening stuff...The details are sketchy at this point in time, although some sites are reporting a Wii Motion Plus device was attached, which would have made it about two inches longer...

I'm sorry! I'm going to hell. That's a terrible thing to happen period. I hope the kid's okay.

Figures that Kotaku would be the ones to cover this.

Yes, this isn't a OTT prank among kids, which while serious could easily be laughed off, what we're talking about here is an angry adult under the influence of alcohol subjecting a 13 year old boy to vicious "object rape", in full view of other minors.

I blame Nintendo for not foreseeing this problem when they marketed the Wii towards children. Prepareing lawsuit in 3...2....1.

I'm to accustomed to Reddit. The fact I cannot downvote is infuriating.

For those who want to skip the Kotaku crap and go straight to the source.

this whole post is stupid. even if that story is taken as 100% fact, what a singular nerdy detail to highlight. Sexual assault isn't interesting but if it is game related in any way we will run it.

It would be like a catering blog running a story that a woman who was raped at knife point ... with a really nice high end Sabatier carbon steel chefs knife.

I see Kotaku hasn't changed... what an awful site.

Seriously OP? If you didn't want people to laugh at this don't post it on the Internet.

I chuckled... Am I going to hell now?

But really that is sad.

Errr, everyone on this site is entitled to their own opinion, that's why we post, whether such views are respected by members is another matter entirely. I personally have fuck all respect for any individuals, or groups, that are capable of laughing at the sexual abuse of a young boy. Why does this opinion surprise you?

"Police say the 26-year-old assailant was angered that the boy and his friends had been teasing him."

Oh come on...If a 26 year-old (sober or not) can let a bunch of kids get under his skin, you should really reconsider whether or not to leave him with your kids. Food for thought, folks.

The Wii probably got some Puu on it.

I think the fact that he shoved a Wii remote up a kid's ass is a bigger indicator of this, but you go with what screams loudest for you.

This is an excellent point. The fact that a game controller was involved is totally irrelevant to the real issue, and really doesn't need to be called out by the gaming community.

This story while significantly more serious reminds me of the recent one concerning that "adult" who tracked down a kid and strangled him, simply because the kid verbally abused him on XBL. The guy in that case, is certainly no adult, he's an immature imbecile who'll be mocked for years to come.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2043589/PlayStation-gamer-Mark-Bradford-46-throttles-schoolboy-Call-Of-Duty-revenge-attack.html?ito=feeds-newsxml

The guy in this case appears to be twisted deviant, drunk or not, he must surely lack a basic level of empathy most people have for young children. Absolutely nothing could possess someone of sound-mind to subject a young kid to such an attack, It's simply not normal.

What's the Wii-mote gotta do with this? A kid was raped. That's pretty much the whole story.

#28 Posted by James_ex_machina (905 posts) -

My gf is taking criminology classes. One of the shocking things she learned was that most rapes are committed with an object. I wish I had the statistic. Most of these losers can't get it up.
A 26 year old guy should be well beyond the point where you mature into a responsible human being.

#29 Posted by I_smell (3925 posts) -

I don't believe that this story is saying what you all think it's saying.

For a start a wii remote literally can't fit up a 12 yr old boy's arse, so "sexually abused with a Wii remote" is most likely hyperbole just to get the story attention.

I'm guessing he cracked the kid over the head with it, and any interaction between an adult and a kid is recorded as "sexual" now-- OR he straight-up raped the kid and a Wii remote was only tangetially involved.

#30 Posted by tarquinbb (25 posts) -

this could have been averted if nintendo had designed a safe version of the controller, with a nub at either end to prevent people from ramming them into other peoples' orifices..

oh, and the mother clearly forgot the number one rule of sleep overs; get rid of the paedophile.

It doesn't need to fit.
I've seen first hand (way way back) when a few seniors were abusing kids in a shitty school. I don't think it's a pleasant experience when somone is trying to shove an object up your ass even if they don't succeed.
The sexual abuse is a quote taken directly from the police and I'm pretty sure they have to use specific terms for specific types of behaviour, so it's doubtfull he just cracked him on the head with it. Just what kind of sexual abuse was done we don't know obviously.  But the quote from them seems pretty clear.

At some point he apparently became angry that the young boys were teasing him, Hoyal said. He reacted by grabbing a 12-year-old boy and sexually abusing him using a Wii game controller, Hoyal said.

It's still all sick fucked up shit, regardless.

I hope not. Because I laughed when I saw the title. And then things got real grim.

I watch KSL and wow I was shocked when I heard about it this morning but KSL is not that great of a news station, none of the Utah news channels are very good really.
