In Shin Megami Tensei IIElohim's sprite.
Following Sabaoth and Shaddai, Elohim is the last of the forms of YHVH the player must face near Shin Megami Tensei II's conclusion if their alignment is either Neutral or Chaos. He is level 93 and, like the other forms, is of the Shinrei or "Holy Spirit" race.
The Barbarous Names
Elohim is a common word found in the Barbarous Names, which are strings of words seen in classical magic summoning grimoires. These Names were later adapted by occultist Aleister Crowley for his alleged demon summoning rituals within his magic order of Thelema. While some are discernible Hebrew or Greek terms for YHVH, Crowley would admit that many of the words in the strings were gibberish but claimed that this increased the effectiveness of the communication between human and divinity.
The Names were subsequently adapted into Shin Megami Tensei's fiction, where they and other Thelemic summoning rituals function as catalysts for the series' early Demon Summoning Programs. One such string of Barbarous Names is seen in the intro to the first Shin Megami Tensei, which is partly a boot sequence of the Demon Summoning Program:
'EL ELOHIM ELOHO ELOHIM
'ELION EIECH ADIER EIECH ADONAI'
'AGIOS O THOS ISCHIROS ATHANATOS'
