Winston joined the Ghostbusters once their business began to boom. He is the only member of the team who hasn't been through any formal university, and represents the 'average joe' on the team.

Winston Zeddemore is played by Ernie Hudson in the two Ghostbusters films and was voiced by Arsenio Hall on the Real Ghostbusters animated series. He is hired by the original three Ghostbusters (Venkman, Stantz and Spengler) when business picks up as an unusual number of paranormal disturbances begin occurring in New York City.

Sadly, Winston has sometimes been given short shrift in Ghostbusters video games, as the original Activision hit Ghostbusters featured only three generic white dudes as the 'busters, and the Sega Genesis game featured cartoony versions of Venkman, Spengler and Stantz as playable characters, while Winston was notably absent. Zeddemore is featured in Ghostbusters: The Video Game (PS3, X360, Wii), however, with his voice provided by original actor Ernie Hudson.
