I just hated the coverage of the Fury add on by the giantbomb team, and the only reason is due to the fact that they were citing drug references. Sure Wipeout is colorful, but so is so many other games? This is by far the best DLC pack this year, and yet it's overlooked by Killzone 2 map packs. Give it a chance, it's not a whimsical, mary j induced trance. It's the best race/action game I have ever played. It's real style is straight up and pure futuristic goodness. Who knows though, everyone may do pot in the future, and Jeff would be right all along. So if you are iffy about Fury, then,....BUY IT.

They were probably just poking fun at it.  Wipeout HD is an awesome game.  I really should go back and finish the game then pick up Fury.

Hey, trippy can be fun, that's why people take acid.

In that case: It's very trippy.

Uhh, dude. It's totally psychadelic. The colours cycle and meld and change rapidly. That is what psychadelic means (when referring to colour and light).

Probably that and the fact that the Wipeout series has always had close ties to clubbing culture.

Drugs are for monkey fightin' fools.
Also, that quick look reminded me that nintendo still has NOT made a sequel to F Zero GX/AX, and I don't know what the fuck it is they're waiting for. I don't want that watered down PSN garbage, I want some damned F zero Racing.

Giant Bomb's team are not the first to do so during the many years the series has existed. All the games are meant to appeal to certain players in such a way. And so what if they do, why have a issue with that?

The game was clearly designed by the Liverpool team to appeal to certain people here in the UK in the late 90s. Like any other companies that could at the time, they were taking advantage of our profitable rave culture, which was rife with drug use then, as it is today. The game was shown on a big screen @ Cream when it launched. [-Liverpool Club]

Drugs are cool and so is WipeOut.

Yeah, what's your problem with homosexuals doing drugs also?. There's no need at all to call them by that derogatory F word.

@Linkyshinks: I guess I meant to say queers, which is by definition, not gay people, while simultaneously it totally is almost always used to refer to gay people.

@keyhunter: Part of that was post of the year.

The part about F-Zero that is. I know plenty of straight drug users and plenty of homosexual straight-edgers

@ Keyhunter, on the Fzero issue, Sega will most likely not be making it, as Miyamoto was unhappy with the direction the last game took - better than X?

The guys little drug references were just part of the humour, no matter what game they play they still have a laugh and a joke around. Also just because they thought the game was trippy doesn't mean they thought it was a bad game, in fact they seemed to quite enjoy the high speed and graphical style of the game.
