Wizards

Being learned scholars and masters of the arcane arts, wizards wield great power by manipulating magical energy for the forces of good and evil.
Do Wizards and Mages Have Equal F****d Up-ness Detection?
This topic is locked from further discussion.
Now, Wikipedia files mages and wizards under the same heading, but of course you can't trust anything on Wikipedia. We need experts on the case, so I turn to you GB community. Do mages and wizards have equal authority when it comes to fucked-upness? If that red mage said "I'm a mage and that is fucked up," would you in fact accept that it is, indeed, fucked up?
I'm tempted to say yes but given that Final Fantasy tends towards mages, and Square-Enix is one of the worlds top producers of fucked up stuff, we might not be able to trust them quite as much. It would help if we could define what the exact difference between a mage and a wizard is. FUCKED-UP THINGS EXPERTS GO!
this falls under the category of similarities/differences between wizards and mages. try to keep this in one thread please.
I would say they have the same authority, because if they don't, where would you place sages, warlocks, or other magical dudes? It would be too confusing.

Does it depend on the type of mage ? Would a Black Mage have a easier time telling if something is fucked more then a White, Blue, or Red Mage? What about Summoners, Warlocks, Sorcerers, Conjurers, and Sages?
What if you are Wizard with an elemental specialty like Fire or Ice does that affect your ability to tell if something fucked up ?
Let's beak this down:
Mage: 4 letters
Wizard: 6 letters, two of which are "z" and "w", commonly known to be among the coolest letters in the alphabet.
There you have it, white on black.
No wizards, know moreAnd now it's a rap.
Wizard's might know more, but do they know more about fucked up-ness? The flipside to my argument would be that because mages are around fucked-upness all the time, they know more about it.
And why do Wizards know more? Do mages turn into Wizards when they know more than other mages, or do you people who train to be wizards just know more than mages? Do you have to pick a specialty in Wizard early on?
Mages and Wizards can detect different levels of fucked upness. A mage can be anyone who knows magic so they can detect fucked upness but not to the degree that a wizard can.
I seem to have the reverse of the opinion of a lot of people here. I see Harry Potter as a Wizard and Gandalf as a Mage. Wizards are the pussies of the magic world, they don't know shit and their fucked up-ness detection is minimal whereas Mages are some raw dog motherfuckers, they die and they just come back with a different cloak and some badass spells and take on fucking dragons and shit AND they have fucking beards. The combination of all this means their street smarts and fucked up-ness detection is some high level shit. They know when Aragon and King Rohan are about to get fucked up and then they charge down a 90 degree incline to introduce some of their own fucked up-ness on some ugly ass orcs, also they got giant ass eagles and even wizards know that shit's fucked up. In conclusion Mages > Wizards in terms of fucked up-ness detection every day of the week. Potter ain't got shit.
If somebody is looking at child pornography that is FUCKED. UP.
If somebody writes something down wrong then they fucked up.
Then there is everything in Bayonetta...man, that game is so fucked up.
I'm sure there are other kinds, but mightn't mages be better at detecting that last kind? I mean, they are more layed back right? They would probably be all like, dude, that's fucked up.

While I see this the opposite way you do, and would therefore classify Harry Potter as a mage and Gandalf as a wizard, I must say that this post made my day.I seem to have the reverse of the opinion of a lot of people here.
