Wolf O'Donnell is the leader of the Star Wolf team, a team of four mercenaries originally hired by Andross to take down Star Fox. They failed, but have since become a team to rival that of Star Fox.
Star Wolf (and by extension Wolf O'Donnell) first appeared in Star Fox 2, but the game was never released. Instead, Wolf made his real debut in Star Fox 64. His team appears on Fortuna, Bolse, and Venom (if Area 6 was the previous stage), ensuring that the Star Fox team would have to fight him at least once.
Later on in the series, he reappears when Team Star Fox gives chase to Pigma Dengar in Star Fox Assault. Wolf's appearance and personality changed, from a small secretive and sly leader to a very almost "burly" large space pirate along with his team. Wolf has since kept his appearance from Assault and it has stuck as shown in Star Fox Command.
In combat, Wolf will use his Wolfen, which is according to statistics, more advanced than the Arwings and more powerful. Wolf is always defeated by Team Star Fox however, proving that Fox's piloting skills are superior enough to overcome Wolf's technological edge. On the ground, he is a very powerful man, able to survive a single Demon Sniper shot in Assault and has shown proficiency using a Landmaster Tank in the same game.
It's thought that Wolf may have a hand in James McCloud's fate, Fox McCloud's deceased father. As Pigma Dengar, one of Wolf's team mates in Star Fox 64, says "Daddy screamed real good before he died!" and Wolf constantly repeats "You'll be seeing your Dad soon, Fox!" Whether this is a mere taunt or a hint at a more active role in the act remains to be seen.
Rivalry with Fox McCloud
Despite the stories and speculation of Wolf's unclear past, Wolf seems to have an ongoing rivalry with Fox McCloud. On at least one occasion, Wolf has saved Fox's life. It is still unclear why, though it is possible that Wolf either wishes to kill Fox himself or that Wolf actually enjoys causing trouble for Fox. Regardless, Wolf continues to be a formidable opponent.
