You knew World of Warcraft's upcoming Cataclysm expansion wouldn't be released without a collector's edition. Blizzard has revealed a special (presumably day-and-date) $80 bundle that has all the traditional fixings a diehard WOW user could possibly get behind. It's a list that includes a thick art book, a soundtrack, and an exclusive in-game pet. The bundle will also include a 60-card starter deck for the World of Warcraft trading card game and a special-edition mouse pad with a depiction of a Deathwing.
The art book is a stunning 176 pages long and features, according to Blizzard, nothing but never-before-seen images plucked from Warcraft development--both past and present. The in-game pet--probably the biggest catch in the package if the ridiculous numbers Blizzard draws with its digital pets are any indication--is a Lil' Deathwing. The soundtrack features at least 10 "epic" tracks, most of which are being pulled from Cataclysm.
Blizzard is obviously being careful with the release date--nothing is even mentioned for this set in the press release. Also, this collector's edition is a limited release that's only being sold at retail stores for the PC and Mac. Buy fast or pre-order.
