Cataclysm is the third expansion pack to World of Warcraft. This expansion revamped and changed much of the original world content in addition to providing new areas, dungeons, and playable races.
Alliance. Stormwind is the prettiest city in the game. Orgrimmar is the most confusing city in the game. Also alliance players spend a lot of time hanging out in Ironforge, where as Horde players are exclusively in Orgrimmar and couldn't care less about their other cities.
@The_Laughing_Man: I wish I had joined the WoW bangwagon when it started, I'd like to join just for the Tauren ladies. XD I've never drawn anything from WoW, we'll see what happens. But I'd be torn between that and a Worgan

Someone in my guild ambushed me with a link to a pic of a troll have inter-species relations with a Blood Elf, I am still contemplating going into therapy because of it.
Going by pure numbers, I would say that if you roll on a PvE server, roll Alliance. If you roll on a PvP server, roll Horde. Respectively, each seems to dominate most servers of that type according to Warcraft Realms / WoW Census.
Alliance for me. When I first started playing WoW, I was on a PvP server. I got bored fast by being ganked in the middle of a quest over and over again by up to FIVE horde players against one me. That ignited the spark of hate against the horde. Later on when I switched to an RP PvE server for a more civilized style of play I noticed that most of the Alliance players upheld the code of actually role play, and the horde players... well... They still jumped around and said KEK. Over and over again. This time without killing anything though. ;)
The Alliance have Night Elves, which are probably the most ridiculous & feminine looking characters I've ever seen in a video game.
While I agree with you about NE's to an extent (I can't stand the race myself, and I'm alliance), blood elves certainly aren't much better.
And actually, there REALLY should be a third faction. Especially with the lore. Forsaken, Goblins, and Worgen should probably all be on a third faction.
@DAFTPUNK: Yeah Inorite? That's totally stupid for there to be a third faction when goblins are part of Horde AND totally get along with alliance. Or when Worgen hate Horde but aren't too friendly with alliance either. Or when the Forsaken hate alliance, but don't really like the Horde either. That's just stupid. :)

Would love there to be a third faction, but it's too late in the game to do that. It would break up a ton of guilds sadly.
@hexx462: Oh, I do agree that doing it now would be an immense undertaking and even destructive. I was never even big into the lore of the game until recently, though I had heard people talking about the third faction thing for a while. And now I have a little better understanding of why.
I say Alliance, simply for aesthetic reasons. In WoW, you spend tons of time in capital cities. If I'm going to spend hours a week staring at my surroundings, I want those surroundings to be pleasing to the eye. Orgrimmar is just plain ugly, and harsh to my sensibilities. Stormwind on the other hand is a lot more soothing.
Honestly, I think the only reason most people say "Horde" is because they want to be the "Badass / I'm angry at my Daddy / I'm tough!!" type of race/faction. That's basically how the Horde are viewed, and people want to be thought of as "cool" and "tough" so they pick Horde.

There is a lot of that on the Horde side for sure, but that's a bit dumb to say it's why "most people" play Horde. Almost every fantasy game has a human protagonist with his do- gooder elf and dwarven buddies. It's fun to actually play as an Orc or Undead, it feels different and not just in some faux hardcore way. Most of the people I play with do not have that mentality, they just like the aesthetic of the Horde. You know they don’t need to be soothed by their main city.

Actually, not so much anymore. I agree, it used to be that way. Now most main protagonists in a game are lone wolf badasses with daddy issues like Kratos from the God of War series. Honestly, playing Horde (or races/factions like Horde in other games) has become the more "cliche" thing... Which I think is another reason I like Alliance better. Having max level character on both sides, I'm struck by how much more enjoyable it is when you don't have your entire screen filled with other players. I log into Orgrimmar, and there is a sea of Orcs, Trolls, and Cows as far as the eye can see. When I log into Alliance, there is a much more tolerable, but still healthy number of players.
Horde. I've never been able to play an alliance character for very long. Also from what little lore I have read and from some quest in the game, it seems like one of the reasons that the horde and alliance are still at war is because some of the Alliance races are racist. I could be completely wrong, it's just what I been picking up from what the little bits of lore that I've read.
