AVG Problems.

So yeah, all of a sudden AVG freaks out and deletes my launcher, then proceeds to let me get all the way to the end of the BC installation before freaking out again and deleting BC. Fuck you AVG. Of course AVG goes nuts and deletes WoW the day Cataclysm comes out.

Interesting, did it see the launcher as an attack?

It seen the launcher as high priority Malware, and because of that it wont even let me install WoW.

I had a problem with avg last week where it made my desktop blue screen on startup, something it's never done, and I couldn't get into windows. I had sneak into the files from the install disk to delete AVG. So yeah, fuck AVG.

@CL60:

Have you tried excluding the file or directory the launcher is in, in the AVG advanced settings?

Just get rid of AVG. It served me well for a while then all of a sudden started freaking out all the time giving me false positives and stuff like that. I scrapped it and went with MSE and now I have no problems.

You mean you don't use Malware Bytes?

I would try, but I can't. Because WoW wont even install. AVG just blocks it before it finishes installing.

Can't you exclude the entire DVD or Downloadable installer. That way AVG won't bit / scan that folder in realtime when it installs it.

I dunno. I'm just gonna delete AVG and try installing without it on.

don't use AVG? Windows Security Essentials or whatever is significantly better, and that one's free too. AVG likes to detect false positives A LOT.

AVG used to be great, but it slowly but surely became shitty. MSE is a much better alternative, though if you can spring for it I highly recommend ESET's NOD32 a fantastic anti-virus that is very "light" it hardly hogs any resources at all.
