Do you guys play with you clothes, I mean sound on?

#1 Posted by deadken (4 posts) - 2 years, 3 months ago

After playing wow for a couple of years I've noticed I've only turned my sound on for cut scenes.

I've talked to others and they mostly do the same.  Sound is simply annoying, not useful in the least.

The only time I have found sound useful is for fishing, and I recently found an addon which turns sound on just as you catch a fish, then turns it off again.

So you just sit and play in total quiet? That's messed up.

I play with sound on all the time. I usually turn it down a bit if I have a podcast or something playing the background, but I never turn it 100% off.

I turned off the sound a long time ago, I just have spotify or something playing in the background while playing at this point.

The sound's not always there to be "useful", most of the time it's there to add something aesthetically pleasing to the game. Sometimes I have had the sound in WoW turned off but if I ever have I've been playing music or podcasts in the background.

I keep my sound down low, but not totally off. Probably at 20% volume. If it is completely silent then the game just seems odd to me. The except to this is in places like Grizzly Hills, where I love the music.

Let me put it this way, whenever I join a Black Ops room, I mute everybody.

@Xolare: That's not really the same thing...

Well, in my mind it is. It's like turning off some sounds in games because you find them annoying. In some games I try to turn the music all the way down because it doesn't really fit to the game or it just impairs my fun. Same goes with the people that decide it's okay to constantly babble on the mic about useless nonsense.

@Xolare: Voice chat it a totally separate category since the developers have no control over it unlike the game's score or sound effects.

I usually mute the music and turn sound effects down so I can listen to my music or Ventrilo.

Sound off at all times.  It gets in the way of me watching TV on the 2nd monitor.

I'm on Skype all the time and when I'm not talking with someone I'm either listening to music or watching TV at the same time. The ingame sound just ruins this.

I always played with my sound off, and watched TV or whatever at the same time.

#16 Posted by FancySoapsMan (5410 posts) - 2 years, 3 months ago

Depends on what I'm playing.

Sound, yes. I need it for raiding. Music, no.

@Gamer_152:
In my mind, sound SHOULD be useful.  Again, I've never found it useful except for fishing.  The last straw for me was fighting Murmur in Shadow Labyrinth.  If there was ever a boss where Blizz should have/could have used sound to warn you of his upcoming attack, this was the boss.   Instead you just get some lame text.  Sound got turned off and I never went back.

I play with a pair of khakis and some boxer briefs and I don't worry about the sound because clothes can't talk.

I turn the sound down and mix it into whatever I have playing in the background. Its useful.

Very rarely play with the sound on these days, just for story driven stuff. I have so little free time to sit and mess about with this stuff so I guess I want to maximise it by listening to a podcast or sticking a show on my laptop while I play. And they said that men can't multi-task...

The voice acting is too amazing in this game to miss out on.

I have absolutely no idea what your title means

"Do you guys play with you clothes...i mean sound on?"

sound off?

#24 Edited by Mcfart (1125 posts) - 2 years, 3 months ago

Depends on the game. For multiplayer games, I generally run at 20ish% sound and have music/podcasts blaring in the background, whereas single-player games I usually run with sound on so I can hear the.........voice acting/story ya know?

as for clothes, I usually have the cat sitting on my lap so it'd be creepy if they were off -_-'

#26 Posted by Azteck (7329 posts) - 2 years, 3 months ago

I only ever turn the sound down (notice, not off) when I'm on skype with some friends or if I have music running in the background.

Depends on what I'm doing. If I'm raiding or in an Arena match, then yes. But if I'm just doing battlegrounds by myself or questing on an alt I'll listen to music or a podcast.
