Hey guys does anyone out there know any other decent MMORPG that i can get into . I'm planning to get Old republic but its to far away to calm my MMORPG addiction . So any suggestions ? I'm not going back to WOW again
World of Warcraft
Game » consists of 9 releases. Released Nov 23, 2004
World of Warcraft is an MMORPG that takes place in Blizzard Entertainment's Warcraft universe. At its peak, it boasted a player base of over 12.5 million subscribers, making it the most popular MMO of all time.
Stop me going back to WOW
I had this same question, Aion looks beautiful (but its still in beta in NA). I never played Lord of the Rings Online so I tried the trial but I was not digging it too much.
As you had mentioned some great games coming out but a long ways away. Basically I gave in and re-subbed WoW, patch 3.2 just came out and added new content and lots of fun stuff. Have I tempted you enough yet? muahaha
Why don't you want to go back to WoW? It's the best MMO out there. Most money to spend on new content, and so on and so forth.
If you're going to spend time on an MMO anyway, it might as well be WoW. Unless it's the monthly fee you don't want? In that case, I can't help you, I quit playing WoW three months ago after playing for four years. I was fairly tempted to revive my account with the new patch but I know it'll just be more of the same.
Best of luck to you =)
Well without knowing what you are looking for in an MMO it's hard to recommend one other than WOW. WOW is sort of the everyman Disney Land of MMOs, or the Red Mage of the group if you wanted to compare it to FF characters. It's got something for everyone so everyone can enjoy it, but it doesn't excel particularly well in any one area.
Meh, just stay away from raiding. That's what really sucks away your soul.
I'd say try Lord of the Rings Online if you like mostly PvE and want something WoW but not WoW.
Maybe Warhammer if you are more PvP inclined. But I haven't played that since beta so I can't give an honest opinion.
Dungeons and Dragons Online is pretty neat if you want something a little different.
" My friend recommended phantisy star universe . I hear its shit mind . "That's not really an MMORPG.....
Champions Online comes out in about 20 days or so. Pre-order it and the open beta starts a week from today.
Just go back to WoW until The Old Republic comes out.
If its good, well go for that.
But if any other MMO shows indication, WoW players generally return to WoW after playing other MMO's as 'taste testing'.
It's like substituting pot for crack. Replacing one thing with another. Replacing WoW with another MMO, the bottom line is you're either going to play one or the other a lot, so the hell does it matter? And once you haven't played (or smoked, depending on if were using the metaphor here) you'll wind up going to the one you quit, oh god, now your smoking/playing both of them!
The real answer: Aion.
" Champions Online comes out in about 20 days or so. Pre-order it and the open beta starts a week from today. "This. Kick the fantasy MMO habit and thus avoid the inevitable comparisons to WoW.
Do not stop playing a game you clearly enjoy and for good reason. Just stop playing it as much, I play games a majority of my time, but I still go out enough to have a "life". Cut down on the amount of hours you play and yeah, enjoy.
I've suggested it several times before here, but Guild Wars. I've been playing it for 4-5 years now; I'm not hooked on it, and I'm usually on and off, but it can be very addicting if you want it to be.
I'm not exactly sure what to even call Guild Wars. It's an MMO, and it's an RPG, but it differentiates itself from common MMORPG trends. You'll rarely find quests like "kill 15 of these duders", in fact the game requires you to play storyline missions to progress through the game, which are very different from normal quests. It's not very grindy at all, in fact the maximum level is 20. You have spells and abilities, but you can only bring 8 with you at a time, so there's some strategy involved with figuring out which build you should bring with you on any given mission. Not to mention Guild Wars is one of the only online games I've found to actually be fun just to explore; the graphics are beautiful, if a bit dated.
There's no subscription fee either.
Why ask the community to help you? Ask your family and friends. If you can't make the decision on your own if you want to continue playing the game or not, ask how they feel about it. $15 a month, you get unlimited access to the game. That is a hell of a deal compared to the price of a 2 hour movie with snacks, dinner and drinks with friends in one night. But are you geting the same social entertainment actually going out with friends as you are talking over Vent or reading digital text? Do you want to remember the time you got your epic pants in Ulduar or killed 2 rogues and a priest in a battleground or when you went to the mall with some buddies and laughed your ass off in the food court because Billy coughed and shot soda out of his nose?
Warcraft can still be enjoyable as a casual game. It doesn't have to rule your life. It doesn't have to be about 2nd job late night raids and endless bg grinding\arenas, min\maxing every little stat and grinding daily quests. But if you find that you are spending too much time in the game, where the only tan you get is from your late nights in fron of the monitor, maybe it is time to step away and find a new hobby.
I play the game but I've cut back a lot. It is a great game but I decided I would much rather just have it there as a way to kill some time and still have other options available to enjoy myself with friends and my wife. Just some advice I have, former hardcore raider that started playing WoW since beta.
Just my two cents.
