So I found a way to play this game, well I'm not going to see if it for free or not, but let's just say that my account was taken a long time ago when the game came out and Blizzard never retrieved it. I told my girlfriend about this and she got furious. At this point she literally doesn't want to talk to me. I told her what if I played Star Wars. She doesn't mind that. She doesn't mind that I even play Lord of the Rings, Dungeons & Dragons (the real paper & pen game), or even those anime PS2 RPG's. I need help understanding. What is her beef with this game?
Let me give you a little insight. We've been together for almost 2 years, she has a 2 year old son, we have another child on the way, and we live with each other.
World of Warcraft

World of Warcraft is an MMORPG that takes place in Blizzard Entertainment's Warcraft universe. At its peak, it boasted a player base of over 12.5 million subscribers, making it the most popular MMO of all time.
Why does she hate this game so much?
WOW is infamous for being addictive and taking up alot of time. She's probably worried that you'll spend more time on WOW than you will looking after your newborn.
" WOW is infamous for being addictive and taking up alot of time. She's probably worried that you'll spend more time on WOW than you will looking after your newborn. "This in a nutshell/
You will give up everything in your life for that game. It's like digital crack, that's why she hates you for it.
" WOW is infamous for being addictive and taking up alot of time. She's probably worried that you'll spend more time on WOW than you will looking after your newborn. "But she knows I won't. I have tons of games that she fears that I'll play all day. The most I play is maybe 1-2 hours a day. And thats even me being unemployed. I spend the rest of the time watching TV with her or doing whatever else we need to do. There was maybe one game that I played all day for 2 weeks straight and that was Champions Online when it first came out. She had no problem with that. She even joked about it.
I heard pregnancy can cause hormonal issues.
" Perhaps a previous partner or significant other (friend / family member?) played it at one point and she had a negative experience with that person due to the game? "Yeah I was thinking that too. At this point I'm not going to talk about with her. If she's this pissed about the game, then maybe I should delete it.
who needs her....there's millions of her on the planet, but how many games to satisfy that itch? or better yet....spark that dro and pass it around, get her hooked too. Couldn't figure out how to do it myself and quit because gd chinese kept hacking my shit in my sleep, but figure its worth a shot for ya.
Women can be hard to deal with, but I do think it's completely rational for her to be worried. WOW has huge press for being addictive. It's basically a pop culture joke at this stage (through South Park etc.).
I'd make the following comparison,
your girlfriend might be okay with you smoking alot of weed, but if you were to start taking heroin, I really don't think she'd be pleased.
Might wanna sit down with her, the internet can do a very good guess, but we'll probably end up wrecking your nerves even more!
I had an ex who was addicted to WoW himself, while he was pretty sweet and we had lots of time together, he almost never stopped talking about it and did play a lot, now I was playing too at the time so I can understand how and what, but not everyone can deal with MMO's and especially not ones like WoW which have a very bad stigma already.
Maybe she's afraid she'll get addicted too? XD
" WOW is infamous for being addictive and taking up alot of time. She's probably worried that you'll spend more time on WOW than you will looking after your newborn. "Yep. It's known for the death of relationships and the neglect of newborns.
Girlfriends hate WoW because it's known for being addictive. I got my boyfriend to play for a decent amount of time but I think it hurt his "gamer ego" too much because I kicked his ass so much.
I have a friend in the same situation as you. He loved WoW, but every time he played his girlfriend would bitch until he eventually left our raids. He doesn't play WoW anymore. ;)
