World of Warcraft is now free up until you reach level 20.

I think I may try this out!

#2 Posted by GJSmitty (651 posts) -

That's cool

But I still have no desire to ever play it

#3 Posted by Hunkulese (2694 posts) -

You're a couple months late with your announcement.

#4 Posted by TheKing (827 posts) -

Pretty sure this happened last summer...

#5 Posted by Inkerman (1451 posts) -

You're using the word 'now' in a very flexible way.

#6 Posted by ABritishNerd (318 posts) -

It's been free for quite a long time now, but it's good for people who want to take their time rather than rush through on a time limit.

#7 Posted by dbol (92 posts) -

Is it last year again?

That's some Kotaku-level shit for a headline, dude.

#9 Posted by TaliciaDragonsong (8698 posts) -

I know, I had time to try it again since I was sick and now I resubbed...

Goddamnit.

#10 Posted by Jack268 (3387 posts) -

This happened like... back in July or something.

@Hizang: It's been this way for a few months actually!

It's a weird situation, though. A lot of people (myself included) would tell you the game doesn't really even start until max level, or at least that leveling and max level content are very disjointed so up to level 20 doesn't really get you an accurate representation of the game.

Also low level starting experiences while modified over the years have not been changed in presentation so the older the race you play the more dated the game will feel. Starting and playing as a Worgen or a Goblin is a vastly different experience than starting as say a Human or an Orc. Newer races feel less like an MMO in a lot of ways and more like many other cinematic RPG out there with very linear storylines and fully voiced-cutscenes and the like. Where as the starting human/Orc experience is a bunch of random quests with a fairly boring storyline that feel like a bunch of fetch quests.

now

[nou] Adverb:

1. at the present time or moment: You are now using adictionary.

2. without further delay; immediately; at once: Either do it nowor not at all.

3. at this time or juncture in some period under consideration or in some course of proceedings described: The case was now ready for the jury.

He didn't say "recently" you pedantic fucks.

I'm not re-subscribing to WoW until the expansion comes out (not that free 20 levels would do me any good, I'm level 85 and epic'd out).

It's actually more like the old demo just extended. You have a bunch of stipulations and things such as not being able to join parties and such.

Ok, but this announcement of his is still late, I almost remember this being available 1-2 years back.

He made a thread title that is extremely misleading and then felt the need to share "news" that is months old. Either this thread is trolling or extremely dumb, I would say criticism on it is valid.

@Bucketdeth: There has always been a trial, but it was very limited in scope, was timed, you could only make it to a very low level, you could not use a lot of the games functionality (AH, in-game mail, etc), and you were restricted to specific zones. This is just the full game with no time limit, basically.

Giantbomb is now online...

all three of your definitions suggest a current change in circumstances.

"present time or moment" is a comparative qualification to what happened just before.

#28 Posted by Hizang (8533 posts) -

Sorry guys, I just saw an ad for it and assumed it was reccent, my bad.

#29 Posted by Mr_Skeleton (5140 posts) -

Guys you are missing the real big news here, this guys has a time machine!

#30 Posted by Bwast (1342 posts) -

As far as I know you can't do anything meaningful with it aside from leveling. I think you're locked out of dungeons and battlegrounds and you can't talk to anyone. Spammers ruin everything. Maybe it's different but that's what it was like when my brother tried it a while ago. It hooked him though and he's played ever since so be weary. Once that game has you, it doesn't let go.

If they would put out a offline single player version of wow, I would gladly pay 150$ for it.

No it's not. It has all the same limitations of the trial, the trial also went to 20. The only difference between the trial, and this is there's no time limit anymore.
