The Wii is getting a WiiWare version of Worms, and possibly DSiWare version as well.

Spong recently spoke to British developer Team 17, and the studio has since confirmed recently rumblings that a version of Worms is being created for WiiWare. A DSi edition is also being considered as well as some non-Worms projects also:

There's a bunch of things coming out: there's a new Worms for Wii, and PSP and probably DSi coming down the line as well. All digital. And some other new stuff, off in the distance, which we can't discuss... so... well, it's all non-Worms stuff as well.

    Thanks to GoNintendo

I'll just take the original Armageddon thanks. You know, the one that isn't gimped weapons-wise.

With Wiiware you'll be lucky to get a non gimped version of the original XBLA Worms.

Filesize is what kept the original XBLA Worms what it was.  What's IR control going to do for the game?

Except the visuals won't be in HD so they'll hold less space. 40 MB is still too little, but WiiWare games can have plenty of variety, like the different 2D elements seen in games like Swords & Soldiers (which also have more frames of animation than a Worms game needs), while the levels in Worms can be procedurally generated based on existing elements and not affect file size all that much. They might as well be as small as text files defining coordinates of elements and the theme used if you even want to have preset levels and perhaps allow creation and sharing between users and what not. As for what IR control can do, well, that just depends on how creative they get with the weapons I guess.
