There is so much hate for this game but i thought all the new fighting styles and stuff where steps in the right direction. Am i the only one that feels this way? Sure the game had a few issues but i still enjoyrd it.

I'm a fan of the game, but after a long while the franchise has become terribly stale.  They need to redo everything, from animations to graphics to pure fighter appeal.

The demo for this game is one of the most retarded and irritating things I've ever experienced. It looked awful. I don't normally make purchasing choices based solely on demos, but this was legendarily abysmal.

Even though i am a fan of the franchise i never played the demo. Is it that bad? From what I've read they do seem to be trying new things with the franchise which is good.

The demo wasn't bad at all.It was like any other sports demo.You could play one or two match'es and you could only pick about 4 guys.IT wasn't that bad. mean hey what do you want for free.

i rented this game and returned it after playing for an hour. and i love wrestling games. the smackdown series had been going downhill but this one was horrendous. the controls were hideous , gameplay was so choppy, and all the problems that plagued the other games such as the ai felt more of an issue. i really hated it. Bring on TNA impact

I asked for this game on PS2 for xmas. I played it for about 2 days and haven't touched it since. I really hate the controls. I liked 2006 much better.

My Nephew is a fan of it, if that's any consolation =P

the series of games used to be ok but it has gone downhill and this is the worst in the series so far

While I agree that the series is going downhill, I don't hate the game. I play it quite a lot.  It's just more of the same, as far as I'm concerned.
Which would probably be fine if say, next-gen didn't happen and it was the next iteration of the series on the PS2/PSP only.
Then only the roster update and some minor changes to how the career mode plays out would've sufficed, I think.

But next gen DID happen and now everything about the game feels old and clunky, I think. They need to start from scratch, as has been said.
