SVR is fun but nothing really sticks out as amazing

Smackdown vs Raw 2008 on 360 is quite a fun game. Many aspects can be fun but, also a lot of aspects are just either dated or just not to well done. There are a bit of new features such as the ECW overall and the addition of superstar fighting styles but overall the game hasnt changed too much.

So this game has your standard modes of play. Their is your typical match types as singes, doubles, triple threats, fatal four and so on. Whats special this year is that all of those matche variants have the ecw match type in there. The ECW matches are pretty cool and are a nice addition to the Smackdown series. The Extremes rules match is a bit similar to the hardcore match found in this game but is a bit modified. For instances when you look for a weapon under the ring their is a wheel that pops up and lets you select your weapon. This works quite well and it stops all the action so you have time to make a choice. The new season mode is called the "24/7" mode. Its a nice attempt but really its just not that good. To start out it doesnt really even make sense. If you are having a rivalry with someone then all of a sudden your seen shaking hands with them. Also I have to mention about how stupid it is that you can rest your superstar but he will lose his popilarity but if you dont rest then your superstar will stay injured. It is truly unbalanced.

The new Superstar fighting styles is actually a nice addition. Each superstar will have 2 fighting styles. The fighting styles do matter as they will give your superstar special abilities. Some of these are a little unbalanced. Such things as the powerhouse and brawlers will be invincible for a short time.

The fighting system has changed a little but mostly for the worst. Now the superstars have less grapples than in any other game. Again like in every Smackdown game reversing will happen a lot in each match. Still the combat is decent and it still works. I just hope they revamp the system soon.

I feel like the superstars in the game are decent. There are some superstars who dont belong but still there are a lot of big names here and all of there moves and authentic entrances are here.

Multiplayer is of the usual here. Thats definetely not a bad thing as having a four player match online is pretty fun. A lot of the matches do suffer from a bit of lag and some matches were just unplayable. But for the most if you get used to the lag the online can be quite enjoyable.

Overall Smackdown is not terrible but its certainly not that good. If you are a fan of wrestling then this game can satisfy your need to hit the ring. But if you are looking for a great wrestling game then your just not gonna find it here.

ProsStill fun to play as a WWE fan as all other WWE games are Huge amount of match types as their always has been ConsBad story, isn't nearly as good as previous games Still bad clipping and animation issues PresentationMenus are done very well, aswell as the entrances for most characters. Cut scenes before matches get VERY repetitive. 3.5/5GraphicsAn improvement, although they could have been much better. Improving at a snails pace from previous games. 3/5GameplayVery fun to play as a WWE fan...

      Meh... 0

It's rather upsetting that yet again, were forced to swallow yet another rehashed game not worthy of our gaming machines.  I mean, the same animations have been used for awhile now.  Even dating back to the Ps2 and the first Xbox, the animations for some of the superstar’s finishers have been the same.  That's quite possibly the most frustrating thing about this game. The brand new addition to this game is the ECW no rules match (i.e. Hardcore Match), and the only new addition to that actual ma...
