Most pc games are compatible with the xbox360's controller, especially games with GFWL. If not, use Xpadder.

Is there a reason you have to use a 360 controller?  In most games I'd much rather just use the laptop keyboard and a crappy mouse than a console controller.

No mouse? I can't stand touch pads. My laptop has a mouse for that reason. Even for basic internet navigation. Roller Coaster Tycoon is fun and cheap on Steam.

@Kane: Batman Arkham Asylum(GFWL), Borderlands, any lego franchise games you are interested in and I'm pretty sure that half-life 2 and other valve games support controllers. I would way force unleashed but the PC version of that is kind of awful. Even though Bioshock 2 is a GFWL game it does not support controllers.

I second this. Dead Space played well for me using a 360 gamepad.

I feel your pain. I should have the specs for DoW2 on my laptop but for some reason the game runs unbelievably slow making it impossible for me to play online.

But to answer your question, many games already have controller support built in. As someone before said use Xpadder for games that don't, it's a handy program.

@Kane: Classic FPS games like quake, wolf3d and doom play great with controllers on PC and have really low specs. Some source ports of these games even have 360 controller support built in so you don't need to find a workaround. They can be found for cheap on steam thanks to the ID super pack being on sale.

@Bellum: Single player not Deathmatch. I wouldn't dream of playing multiplayer with a controller.

I suppose it'd work. Wouldn't want to try it on hard or, god forbid, nightmare, though.

Depends on how the OP plays games. 2.5D shooters like DOOM are very playable even on ultraviolence with a controller. I would go so far as to say that it is my preferred method of playing those types of games.

I wouldn't play either of those games with a gamepad. You will get stomped by literally everyone. I would stick to single player or cooperative games.

A quick search on Steam shows they have 181 games that are controller enabled.

Simply choose Advanced Search and then in the Category dropdown choose Controller Enabled and there ya go! :)

I just use mine for racing games mostly.

I recommend against using Xpadder or anything else that wraps M&K controls to a controller. So many games have built in support anyway.
