My 360 that I got back from repair about 2-3 months ago has been working fine. However as of recently, it makes halting sounds like a truck stopping suddenly. It's very loud and happens randomly. Afterwards, I get a disc unreadable error.
This has happened on two games (Madden 08 and Madden 09).
Also when I first turn on my 360 on the dashboard and I have a game disk in, it does this occassionally.
Is my 360 in trouble? Thanks.

Yeah that happens sometimes; the noises. I wouldn't take the risk of keeping it and return it to them and have them fix it, or else you may go with your 360 eating your games, or just not reading any discs.

You would certainly do better to ask them directly, rather than people on a forum who will not be the ones doing any repair or replacement for you.
