@Red: Some data for games are stored on servers, like multiplayer stats in some games. Cloud saves don't exist (yet?), so any saves that only existed on your USB are now gone.
Sadly the cloud saves will be made a available too late to solve your problem.
I do however know for fact that Alan Wake saves to a server. A few monthes after Wake came out I lost all of my saves. Was pleased to find out I could finish the game.
This edit will also create new pages on Giant Bomb for:
